Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Them getting those missiles would create a massive gap. Instead, later iterations should be added as separate vehicles.

Again, I would much rather they fill those gaps with earlier models instead of gimping what we already have.

They aren’t gimped, though. For the most part, they have what they had in the point of time that they are representative of.

No, JHMCS was added in the early 2000s, which would indicate they could carry AIM-9Xs and AIM-120C-7s. We obviously do not need those in the game right now, but historically speaking that is what they should be carrying eventually.

Those missiles would be much more balanced against things at a much higher BR, and whenever things like the EFT, Rafale, etc. come (which will be soon) we can expect a jump in missile tech not too long after (probably ~6 months).

Oh man you’d love the F-4E then.

They still used AIM-9Ms and AIM-120A/Bs then.

On top of this, what you’re suggesting would make older players need to grind out lower rank vehicles that they have basically already done so with.

Yes, which gives them the option to choose whether they want to or not - rather than forcing them to grind out new vehicles with features they should already have.

It also forces them to grind a new vehicle to play what they already grinded for in the past. This is not a good thing.

I want an F-4E “late” badly lol

AIM-9L, AIM-7F, LGBUs, AGM-65Ds

It would be great, that’s for sure.

Sounds like an aircraft that’ll get screwed over by BR compression particularly hard.

You’re missing the point

Adding older vehicles prevents players from having to grind with worse planes for newer more capable planes. This simply makes the grind easier - grinding using a better vehicle for something that you do not need to get (you already have the best variant).

This is in contrast to having to play an ahistorically nerfed plane in order to get tech that should have already been present on your current plane. This occurring all because Gaijin would rather have you grind the same vehicle out again just for minor module changes.

AESA radars, for example, should simply be modifications you have to research, or they should simply rename the radars and update their functionality.

No, I am not missing the point. I am pointing out why yours is not a good one. This is the same reason that copy and paste is a bad thing. If I’ve already ground out a vehicle, I don’t want to have to grind it out again. Adding later iterations of the same vehicle would do the same thing you’re suggesting and completely avoid this problem.

AESA radars aren’t modifications to aircraft, they are part of new aircraft production & refits.
On top of that requiring a new BR as well.

What you are describing doesn’t happen IRL, and shouldn’t happen in-game.
There is not a single variant of any aircraft whose sole upgrade is an AESA radar.

You’re describing the same thing but in the opposite direction. They’re the same plane but with slightly different equipment. I do not want to have to grind out a competitive vehicle just because the current one has been powercrept yet can still receive updates to remain competitive.

And I don’t want to grind out a plane that does the exact same thing just to play what I want to play.

Then we have to agree to disagree.

I would personally prefer to get proper weaponry for the time period. And for that weaponry to be balanced they have to face harder opponents. I would expect these planes to then end up getting equipment to face those harder opponents.

The way the game is developing is definitely weird. The addition of the Eurofighter and Rafale bring up important questions like what missiles they will carry. They can still use 9M/120B and Magic-II/MICA-EM, but whether they bring 120C-5s/MICA-NG or eventually IRIS-T/MICA-IR remains to be seen.

The Typhoon couldn’t use the AIM-120C-5 until the Tranche 2 bl 10, and it’s clear through both what Smin has said and what Gaijin has done with weaponry progression that IRIS-Ts and the like won’t come for quite a while.

Please Gaijin, then they can finally unnerf the AAM-3 seeker as well

I want an f4d with no gun that goes at a lower br than the other phantoms. Its awkward and min/maxed but realistic.

With that said br compression makes it hard to place.
