From what I know, the bl 1 lacks LOAL and datalink, but still has the better IRCCM. I may be incorrect, however.

Hmm so if BTT was added I dont think the flight performance between AAM-3 AIM-9X Python 4 and Magic 2 would be much different
Though ill admit my AIM-9X knowledge is limited at best

the only advantage of that phantom are it’s AMRAAMs
if anyone gets close enough to use IR missiles which may not 100% be my fault then that fight is lost
this thing won’t turn fast enough to dodge anything IR that you meet at that BR
I believe in testing some LOAL was achieved even on early blocks so idk how that’s gonna work out once it comes down to their implementation
The 9X would be the best, however the AAM-3 and Magic II would still be somewhat competitive.

Well when 9X is added im sure R73M would be as well
Unless we get a later block AIM-9M that pulls its 35G

Wym, I’m pretty sure all the good features are on the block which was literally never bought.
sure gonna be some people gonna like it that they know what is coming but for sure most of the people look at 33 xd and they thing it must be better version

Out of the Magic II and AAM-3 at their full capabilities and Python 4 and AIM-9X bl 1, the 9X is the best.

I would guess 3+ years.
Still plenty of 4.5 gens to come before then.
And, hopefully, more gen 2s and 3s, even if foldered up. God I want more A-4s, MiG-23s and F-4s

Fair enough, using one of the worst ARH carriers I get why it can seem that way.
But I tell you, using an F-15C or F-16C you will understand that AIM-9M is the strongest overall outside of niche circumstances where you really need the extra pull.
But Soviet planes only need that pull because Gaijin are convinced Su-27 would lose a rate-fight to an F-4C Phantom…
They won’t come as frequently as 4th and 4.5th gens, however.
