Bro. I know now why they won’t give us Su-30SM, let alone R-77-1. I’m smoking dudes at decent ranges without HMD assist on this Su-34, and super maneuvering enough to hail-mary dudes that get in close.
Just Su-30SM will be an absolute salt-mine for US mains. Let alone giving USSR/Ru mains Su-30SM + R-77-1, the age of SPAMRAAM would be OVER (or balanced at least, unlike now).
Idk about the UK, but the USSR has plenty of planes and variants, and yet instead of getting Su-27K (33) with the release of the F-14A (or B if US mains wanted to whine a bunch) we’re supposedly getting it now after every single Block 69 mod 420 of every F-1X series plane and variants have been released from F-14A to F-15E. Meanwhile, it seems like no release is ever good enough for the US community.
So when are we getting S-300? Lol.
Why does Gaijin hate tandem seat Flankers? (2nd time I’ve asked)
Aspect angle. It looks perfectly fine.
Oi mate, don’t forget the MSHEPEs™ on the Bloated LandWhale or the BAE BritaniaBeenz (Tracked, only two produced, three scraped, but it’s in a museum somewhere and totally would’ve worked).
Wild. Just give us the Su-30SM, Su-30SM2, and Su-35. That is more than sufficient for the EFT’s. There is a reason after all that all of Europe is buying F-35’s, and it’s not just the US’s death-grip on NATO purchases.
I honestly get it. I’d be happy if they gave us the Su-30SM, no R-77-1’s (for now) in exchange for a real fix to all Flanker FM’s, and a fix to the gyro’s on the R-73’s. I don’t even have to try to fiddle with different flight controls to pull some real cowboy sh*t and these R-73’s are 50/50 on if they’re cut out for that lifestyle.
it’s pretty similar for most other nations
our equivalents always get delayed until the US has something better amd then we’re given the but we have more planes excuse
I would probably expect the AIM-120C-5 to make an appearance if the R-77-1 was added.
I would like to note that we can probably expect minor range improvements from the 120C-5 (~10-20% better range) and slightly worse fin AoA due to the clipped fins having less control surface area.
We also have yet to see if Gaijin will adjust the flight characteristics of the R-77 since it is supposed to perform better when supersonic but have a ton of drag when subsonic.
I just checked in test flight, I didn’t even know I had multiple ACM modes, jeebus man.
Yeah, but I’d sacrifice that for a real N011M that isn’t gimped the way the N001VEP is on the SM (outputs and processing should be way better as the radar has much more power to pull from in the SM), and HMD with a real fix to the R-73’s.
Maybe I’m getting better with R-77’s, but I’m finally nabbing SPAMRAAMer’s from 20-25km away while still at sea-level. The Su-34 just makes the lock so viciously quick, I feel like the R-77-1 would just make it too easy, plus it opens the door to the C5’s, which like the 9M came after backlash for the R-73, will just make the whole addition pointless.
That’s my fear exactly. I’m speaking from ignorance here, but iirc, the A’s and B’s and even the first C’s weren’t supposed to be that great. I thought everyone was expecting C5’s to come with the first gen R-77’s as they were roughly equivalent. All this time I basically figured 77-1 was perhaps even a hair better than everything but the C5, and only marginally.
The experience in game has been really shocking for me, and I really miss the golden days of BVR’ing dudes from 60-80km with my R-27ER’s. I’m tired of this rat-tier gameplay.
I kinda miss it as someone who played the F-15A back then too. My only complaint was that the US lacked the AIM-7MH and AIM-7P. I know for sure the AIM-7P had DL, which would have allowed it to do R-27ER things.
Of course the AIM-7MH/P were kinematically the same as the AIM-7F/M (although they did have lofting, which might have helped a bit), but if they had DL they would have been fine against R-27ERs. The ability to reacquire locks was what made the R-27ER so potent imo.
