Here’s my prediction on the air meta/top tier for the next year.
You have to look at the rate at which Gaijin is advancing through the top tiers. It’s frankly ludicrous. In the span of one year of major content updates (From December of 2023 up until now) Gaijin has added the majority of 4th gen airframes, including some that could be considered gen 4+.
There’s also the precedent of adding highly-anticipated, meta-defining air vehicles in the December update. It seems to be quite successful in at least driving up the player counts-- which probably means it’s financially successful for Gaijin too.
If you take both of those things into account, 5th gen fighters kind of have to come with the December 2025 update. Obviously there’s no guarantee, and this is all speculation, it just seems like the most logical outcome.
So here’s how I see the update schedule for Air over the next year:
I think we will see the Eurofighter and Rafale in the June update given that one is usually one of the biggest updates of the year other than the December update.
No idea what we will see in March instead. Maybe some more modern bombers or maybe we could see another update focusing on trainer aircraft like Alpha Strike, but maybe with aircraft like the BAE Hawks, L39, Yak-130 and such. Honestly would love to see an update like this, this is what Alpha Strike should have been in my opinion. An update named after and introducing 2 armed trainer aircraft should have included more trainer aircraft.
Like I’ve said the F-2 won’t come before the Typhoon and other similar gen jet’s, nothing to do with weapons performance or anything just profit driven.
We defo see rank 9 before these aircraft or at the same time as them.
Legacy hornet 1980’s and the early anti-radiation missile (ARM)
GBU-15 other variants and AGM-130 for F-15E
Modern 2nd gen or 2.5 gen and another new gen targeting pod for unique american aircraft rank VII ~ VIII (such as F-15E, F-16C Block 50, A-10C, F-16AM Block 15 MLU and USMC AV-8B+)
In the stream he mentioned Pakistan and more unspecific choices. Arguably Bangladesh and unlikely Myanmar, but if you look at their inventory, its once again something Chinese or some western designs that Taiwan also has.
Its wild to think that the game went from F-4C and MiG-21F-13 to F-4EJ Kai and J-7E in two years, and another two years afrer we hopped right into eagles and flankers.
And somehow they are still entering the game lol, kurnass 2000, ICE, bison and JF-17
Maybe it’s just because there is not much left to add in ground at the top end, so they’re trying to drip feed it for as much longevity at possible, but these top tier aircraft heavy updates have been ramping up in pace so quickly these past couple years.
I hope beyond all hopes that they shift their focus to back to SPAA in particular. It’s been completely stagnant for so long, and fallen behind the CAS curve so much.
I mean ADATS is now five and a half years old, It’s getting crazy.
Will the fact that Scimitar currently drives like a wheeled vehicle and about 6" too deep into the terrain be addressed or do you need me to do a report?
