Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Carriers and Subs could be to naval what SPAAs and Aircraft are to ground

Yeah, but the contents turns out to at least dissapoint half the community. Either it lacks something that needs a gap plug, or gives them to tree that does not need so.

Subs yes.

I just have reservations about how the game would handle carriers. Would they be RTS style? Would you control squadrons? Would it be press buttons and it did things?

It has potential, but I would want them to make some fundemental improvements to the game first. If nothing else, fixing AI carriers so they arent so damn buggy (though that might be a catch 22 I suppose)

(One of the biggest improvements needs to be map design, imagine spawning into a carrier now and just getting one shotted by a BB firing at you instantly)

I think the easiest and best Implementation is to have the player command squadrons like in the Single player campaigns

easy to implement because the mechanic already exists, a good bit different from how other games do it and the thing isn’t too OP with fully AI squads ripping the game apart

in addition to that you could use friendly carriers as second spawn for player planes that can take off from carriers

I think for naval though its a little different from the other modes though.

At least for Britain. For example when you think British military historically you think “The Might of the Royal Navy” and I’d argue thats just as popular as the USN (if not more once you look past the Iowa’s).

But now its a cycle of theres nothing special about the RN ingame. Its in Jutland era, its getting stomped by powercrept additions at top tier and its cruiser gap despite having been remedied irl has not been fixed.

I mean look at the submarine event… which country sank the most subs… Britain, which country has the individual credited with the most submarine kills, which country established the then world leading sub hunting school…

I think especially for Naval the UK lagging behind is almost entirely artificial.

Yeah… Minor nations getting less because they are less popular is just shooting yourself in the foot. Because of course they’ll be less popular if they are fundementally worse off and poorly treated

This wait is feeling so long and boring xD

At this point I am so desperate that I was looking forward even to the nonsensical and underwhelming BR changes, just so I could play the buffed Merkavas and “feel” something “new” xD

Increase in both. Supercharges are usually also paired with increased elevation angles.

But whats particularly relevant for ingame is that it would be a mix of both of the most defining features ingame. At point blank range a higher velocity shell is better for penetration but has a higher ballistic dropoff. The UK historically uses heavy shells at lower velocities which ensures consistent penetration at all ranges and higher point blank penetration.

agree agree

it’s just boring at some point

Sea Harrier FRS1 is going to be nice to be playable again. Though I still have no idea if its 11.0 or 11.3 in Sim with the new changes. Keep being ghosted when I ask for clarification.

@Smin1080p_WT Able to comment on what BR the Sea Harrier FRS1 will be in Sim with the new BR changes? They are… unclear

But 12.0 is going to be dead with all the soviet stuff going down. I doubt you’ll ever get much of the way of a decent lobby going as most will be off playing other brackets instead of playing the uptiers.

For example, yes

Depending on the source they are atleast 60-70% true.

Predicting what is coming is not a hard thing as well. The only thing neccessary was some IRL military knowledge and it is enough to fool a lot of player who doesnt know about gaijin.

I think it only disappoints people in the same way the whole game disappoints people.

As someone who really enjoys War Thunder, I look forward to finding out what’s in the next update. I know it’s not going to have everything on my wishlist, but sometimes I discover something new that I think is cool, and I can start grinding towards it.

Aircraft are almost useless in navale since AA will shred anything before you can even go near them, for sub its more complicated, on lower tier they would be useless due to the number of dd and in top tier it would be broken due to the fact that you can’t play a destroyer in top tier navale.

Yeah, I guess you explained my point better than I do. I play 5 trees, and with ultra low standards(except for Britain and China), it is hard for me to be dissapointed by a specfic update since something would come for one of these.

But yeah, leak lists doesnt mean much. The addition I am interested the most - 9K33 osa, was not implemented.

BAE Hawk or Tornado Gr4 are my hopes for this coming update. I dont think either are entirely unreasonable.

Though there will be a dev-thread for the Sea Harrier’s again if there is no work done for them.

The lack of CAS in naval compromised both ways, ships fire at an ludicrous accuracy even without TF or VT shells compared to IRL counterparts; and the aircraft that comes in is either one, or rarely, two in a formation. With the most advanced destroyer or light cruisers in the game armed to the teeth with AAs, it probably need 6 to 8 planes to take down a well played ship, reference: USS Laffey takes 52 kamikazes.

Mark my words, the update that adds the F/A-18 will also add the Osa, and it will be called “Hornet’s Nest” to create a theme.

Looking at these lists it’s a little bit more than that…
