No one confirmed that we are getting F/A-18s for US or Germany.
Wait for official news.

Cool thanks.

does it have R60 seeker?

No, but there is the RL-2M, a SAM based off of R-60M on the same principle.

Its not fair that Germany lacking proper airforce IRL is reflected in game?

Wait, who says they can’t?

Smin confirmed, back when the leak lists for the Dance of the Dragons update came out, that if the F/A-18 comes to the game then it will be added to the US alongside other nations at the same time.

No nation will be exclusively receive an F/A-18 when it gets added.

See Smin’s statement here:

Spoiler

Also Germany is stuck with an F4 at top tier due to the fact that Germany has no aircraft to make it competitive with other nations until either a Eurofighter or a Swiss F/A-18C. Earliest we will probably see a Eurofighter is in the June update of 2025 or possibly in the December update of 2025. So that means that Germany will most likely have to wait until this December update to get anything better than the F4F ICE, that being the introduction of the F/A-18C along with a Swiss subtree.

I want to see the OTO-melara 155mm to the Italian TT.

Instead of trashing up german tech tree they can just add the IRS-T the ICE, that it has used and it would by far more balanced against other aircraft and would have a much greater chance against F16´s Mig29´s SU27´s and F15´s.

A 5gen IR missles with 360° coverage and helemt mounted aiming would remdey the close in problem, in long range departemnt the ICE is quite competetive.

Gaijin should add this as a Italian premium (joking). This has a 105mm OTO melara gun

Although the game might not be far from the next generation of IR missiles being added (possibly next year is my guess) Gaijin absolutely should not just throw arguably one of the best 5th gen IR missiles into the game and only give it to one nation and one aircraft all because the German Airforce didn’t use any other aircraft between the F4F ICE and the introduction of the Eurofighter.

More lower tier Italy would be really fun!

Looking at the amount of lower tier vehicles Italy could still get - they would be one of the most fun nations ingame, if not the most fun.

Some nations haven’t really been developing newer generation vehicles but SHINE at the older generations.
Such nations, like Italy, should be heavily focused on their older generation additions instead of the higher tiers.

While ofcourse keeping them up-to-standard with all other nations at the higher tiers.

So you want to keep the ICE ineffective at close range? The Aim120 is one of its best but was still added.
Adding the IRS-T without a doubt would fix many problems, its accurate as it was used and tested on that platform and would have not more then 2 maybe at max 4 of them. Every nations has its “special” thing to let them stand out. It would revive the ICE and make it more viable in whole game not just under certain cirumstances.

They would have to be HEAVILY gimped, no aircraft in game have any way to defeat the IRIS-T. It is unfair to have a 20km “you die” bubble around a plane. They would have to be flareable, maybe slightly stronger than current missiles IRCCM but not my much.

The F4F ICE gets AIM-9L/i for close range which is on-par with other missiles like the AIM-9M (it’s exactly the same except for it lacking a smokeless motor) and its perfectly fine at that BR. The biggest thing the ICE lacks is just it’s flight performance and no HMD for more easier off-bore shots. And AIM-120’s were added with it simply because Germany doesn’t have any ARH capable planes other than the F4F ICE and the Eurofighter.

Also adding IRS-T to the ICE might happen when 5th gen IR missiles are added to the game. Many aircraft currently in-game could receive them but adding them might raise the aircraft’s BR to a point where the aircraft is almost unplayable.
Adding a 5th gen missile to a 3rd gen aircraft is going to cause a lot more problems than it would fix. Especially if it constantly sees more advanced 4/4.5 gen aircraft with the same 5th gen IR missiles. A obviously solution would be to adjust BR’s to the selected loadout but Gaijin are very unlikely to do that.

That is relative flying trandao and beinga round anything fighter related is being in that kind of 20km kill bubble. Being in the ICE and facing F15 or F16 or anything is being that kill bubble. But with IRST you still got to see the traget and it is more resitent to countermessures not “100%” accurate and unflarble.

If gajin is smart the say and add it as protype version with some “kinks” still powerfull but adjustble.

No if Gaijin is smart they would not add one of the best IR missiles currently in use to a 3rd gen aircraft exclusively.

And gimping the missile and saying it’s a prototype is just stupid.

Not really, there’s a difference between “damn this is hard to fight” and “well it’s literally impossible to live through this”. I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to giving it 0.75 Gatewidth and the AIM-9Ms seeker blinking as a stopgap until more missiles of the class arrive.

As for how they would be balanced later most gen 5 IR missiles have a ~2 second gap between activating (not firing, but activating) their seeker and when the IRCCM comes into effect where they can be preflared.

As someone who is not stressed out about replacing the ICE at top tier and not arguing for [shiny new plane] for germany, I still find that argument lackluster. By that logic you can trash the whole BR-system and go by year of introduction; i.e. have fun fighting Centurions, M60s and T-55s in your ikv103, Maus sees M4 Shermans, Wiesel 1A4 against T-80 etc. If you argue with realism, don’t be selective.

i mean germany is lacking an equal ground atack capablitys for top teir and either an f-18 or a eurofighter fits that job quite well
