Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Probably because japan is a minor nation

Not that I’m aware of. Though considering it just flies in a straight line while searching it should be easy to avoid firing at teammates.

This would mainly be useful to force fire at that one helicopter that keeps being just obscured enough to confuse the seeker while still hovering within range, this way the missile can launch and lock when the target is closer.

Right now with 10km missiles this won’t do too much, especially when considering that a fixed optical imaging (not contrast) seeker wouldn’t have nearly as many issues anymore as it does now until its 8km. Though the missile itself should be capable of at least 14km (effective range of literally the same missile with only the seeker swapped), at which point this feature could almost double the lock range.

It would also allow it to fight back against ground targets.

well on the subject of AA i would love this thing

not sure on the total count of AIM-132’s you would get but i think it would be very powerfull due to the range and moderness of the missile

um but it is more of a compromise from my point of veiw as its more of a multi use missile than the star streak it is also slower at about half the speed

what missile is that i assume IR

R-73 with added 1st stage booster from what it looks like

This is the RL-4M pracka, basically a R-73 with an extra rocket motor. I have heard that its not IR guided and requires manual command despite being a R-73.
When Yugoslavia gets realized in war thunder, this will potentially be one of their high-end AAs. There are other modernized soviet-era AAs such as Yugoslav strelas, and to go to the modern era pantsir-SE, but with worse missiles.

Hardly true as there’s no other way to possibly guide these missiles without extensive modifications which they obviously didnt do.

Potentially yes but range would still be abysmally bad.

that is the one thing the AIM-132’s should still have decent range not the full range but a decent amount

R-73ER lmao

Since it is an improvised system, the info on the machine is limited. DCS forum suggests a 8.6km max range, decent for something based off a R-73 to be launched zero-zero. However since it only has two shots the range should be around 4km ish, better than the stingers but not much impressive.

i do wounder what the range of the aim-132 is when lauched from the truck as they have a 25km range when air lauched

25km shouldnt be hard with the boosters. SLAMRAAMs has a range of 60km, yitian, surface launched TY-90s has a range of 10km, which is actually better than TY-90s on helis.

Why cannot both USA and Germany get the F/A 18 at the same time? It is not fair that USA is getting all of the proper top tier jets and Germany has to stick with the F-4F KWS LV

for precision i was referencing the Renault Sherpa with the MPCV weapon system (Mistral configuration) , used by Indonesia
