Fair, he did say he prefered them, not that they are better. But we’re not discussing preferences here, I think? lol
Well, that maybe a skill issue of the Mirage F1 pilot, maybe he did not use a hard-lock to help the tracker of the Magic 2.
IR missiles are usable in some situations like when enemy is doing multipathing, closer engagements where FOX-1 missiles reaction time are not fast enough.
When enemy is doing notching and he is chaffing, sometimes they ignore IR missiles don’t care about notching and they do not use flares.
Is always good have a secondary armament to be ready for any situation.
I know, MiG-23MLD is one of my favorites since its addition to the game; but unless the enemy has no more missiles and decides to do dogfight w you, the good FM of the Flogger will be your best friend (unless it is a Hornet) otherwise BVR may not be its strength. Plus MTI sometimes forgets to trigger when looking down and misses lock of the target.
It is a very good plane but not that good to be moved to 12.0 yet.
And I had the opposite experience; AIM-9L has connected even if the guy is flaring while R-60M just misses by one flare that the enemy dropped at a distance less than 0.8 km.
He did, I avoided recording in sensor view because his radar lock was flodding the screen with green and you would not understand anything.
I just recorded in the end to prove it was magic 2
Your RWR says F16 and it is a lot of green things to distinguish if it was the Mirage pilot had you locked on.
You can just run down most people with the MLD, they don’t really need to decide to dogfight you, you can force your way all the time against its peers.
Missile will track fine at short ranges anyway. Don’t unlock, and you will probably still get the kill. I have killed 2 guys at the same time while launching both missiles and locking just 1
Show me a jet that is as good as the MiG-23MLD at 11.7
And I’ll show you a bunch of 12.0’s that are WORSE than the 23MLD.
The MiG-23MLD is a handheld jet because it has a premium cousin being handheld with premium bias.
That’s the thing between them.
You gain a ton of flight performance but for missiles closer to R-24Rs. [Even if I support SuperTEMP addition.]
Textbook example of a sidegrade.
Which is why the F-4J UK is sad, cause it gets neither the Spey flight performance nor the AIM-7F.
“A TON” ahahaha are we talking about a fgr2 or a f-16 here?
No, though the difference between F-20A & FGR2 is the difference between F-4J/S & FGR2… tho the F-20A to FGR2 might be less as a percentage & I’m forgetting.
16 degrees per second sustained with FGR2, with higher TWR.
13ish with F-4J.
So the F-20A would need 19 sustained to be an equal distance.
That is even more nonsensical than the last
Both of his magic 2’s had a proper post launch lock and then diverted to the flares.
Gatewidth IRCCM isn’t what it used to be
My bug report which was shut down Gatewidth IRCCM is broken (video proof) // Gaijin.net // Issues
Also, my test with the help of @InverseBits a while ago
Okay, it is bugged/glitched and the IRCCM of the Magic 2, R-73 and any other missiles that uses the similar method of IRCCM are faulty.
So, Mirage F1C and Mirage F1C-200 may stay at 12.0; but once it is fixed (hopefully), should it be moved to 12.3?
I don’t think the devs intend to change them, there are countless of bug reports, and @InverseBits even sent the replay files from our testing to moderators that helped us to shed a light on it.
Devs just ignore it and say its not a bug and its working as intended. The Gatewidth feature itself “fov reduction” is working, but the missiles are still locking into flares in rear aspect that are just shy of being outside the seeker FOV.
