New Scouting: Give the VEAK 40 back its Proxy Fuze

I said it. The VEAK 40 needs its proxy fuze ammo back. These Scouting Drones are about to be a real menace on the playing field and direct-hit munitions aren’t enough.

“But… but… where are the documents?” Show me the docs for the many Russian or Chinese vehicles that are overperforming because the governments are so obsessed with making themselves sound better than they are in real life.

For the sake of Scouting Drone balancing, bring back the Proxy Fuze on the VEAK 40.

To be honest, the new scouting mechanic is self balancing, I saw no boom in people scouting others like crazy accross the map because there’s a limit in 1,500 m maximum to scout, you can’t scout someone further than that, to scout one target you need another 18-seconds to scout other, it gives half the rewards and the airplane bonus reduction is about the same or lower compared to direct scouting using a ground vehicle.

But I agree that this should be considered, I’d love to have some kind of reward for shooting down enemy scouting vehicles but I think I’m asking too much for such futile thing. But it’s fun to shoot down drones however, returning the HE-VT belts for the Veak-40 would just make it bump to battle rating 9.0 or even higher depending on what changes are made on the belt, but honestly I think it will never return.

Then you haven’t learned the UAV trick from before this patch. Going into a light tank, launching UAV, changing minimap to UAV’s view, and scouting enemy team from across the entire map.

Now you can scout from the drone itself without needing to switch constantly… it’s easier even with the extended cooldown.

Sweden is always “thrown under the bus” and I’m sick of it. So I’m asking Proxy Fuze to return to the VEAK.

cool, move drones to rank 7 and above

not a good solution

I have learned and used and still use it some times, fact Gaijin never fixed it it’s awesome, but I think it has something to do with vehicle render, maybe not but that’s my bet. Personally I think Sweden is getting the same threatment as Russia and China as you said, some nations that need a bit of attention is France and Israel in my honest opinion, Italy and Japan is already offering what they had to offer, now only rely on sub-tech tree or nations not implemented’s vehicles.

It would go back to BR 8.7, and there are no documents proving it can use them.

There are no Russian vehicles that are over-performing. The fact your post implies NATO is making Russian vehicles sound better than they are… WOW.

i wish chinese vehicles were overperforming 😔

I agree with op, scouts are small and hard to hit and what’s the benefit of having top low /mid level aa? Think they should throw them a bone and give the proxy belt back .

  • Strf 9040 BILL got its launcher up/down aim removed for no valid reason and the real-world model showing hydraulics to move it up/down in addition to the folding in/out parts.
  • All CV 9040 based vehicles lack its FCU being able to lock airplanes.
  • VEAK 40 lost its proxy fuse ammo despite Sweden using it on all of its 40mm since late WWII. Such as Bofors L/70 and after.
  • Strv 121/122 incorrect barrel depression limiters making the barrel go up way too soon when looking toward the side-rear.
  • CV 90 Mk IV, the SPIKE LR2 missiles have horrible accuracy issues despite being dead accurate in real life footage.
Don’t get me started on the jets.

So yea, it gets thrown under the bus.

“One of the VAK 40 S 49 was converted into a proof of concept vehicle, designated VEAK 40 X 59 (experimental model 1959) with an integrated radar. It proved successful and lead to the main construction, VEAK 40 X 60, based on the Bofors VK 105 chassis (aka the S-tank/strv 103), which eventually became the VEAK 40 X 62, or just VEAK 4062 for short. A prototype was delived way later than anticipated, with various trials being conducted during the mid to late 60s. The vehicle worked great and was really ahead of its time, not really being surpassed until the Flakpanzer Gepard or even M247 Sergeant roughly 10-20 years later. 40 mm proximity fuze ammuntion for the guns were in development at the Bofors test fire center at the time, which did not enter the open market until 1975.”

This is incredibly detached from reality.
Sweden as a minor nation can compete with major nations in many BRs, which can’t be said for most other minor nations.

Sweden had the best MBT in top tier for years with 122s, had the best AA with ITO and even Gripen was dominating for months.

Moaning about how Gaijin treats Sweden is ridiculous.

The main problem is the fact this mechanic only got introduced because there was a bug they didn’t know how to fix.

Now that drone scouting has been solidified, it’s long past time that drones actually got changed so that ground vehicles can interact with them. As it stands, it’s basically just free wallhacks for an entire team, and outside of top tier there are no real ways to shoot down drones. Either:

A: Short battery life, maybe a minute or two.
B: Make drones larger, less agile and slower, to the point that rooftop machine guns can engage them.
C: Swap the model for a quadrotor, meaning that when it’s not actively being controlled it’s just hovering in place, again making it easier for roof MGs to engage.

Beyond anything else, at least fix the drone hitbox. Watching proxy fuse shells and SAMs detonate near the drone and do nothing more than a “hit”, when by all rights the drone should be evaporated by anything more powerful than a hand grenade is just silly.

Also, make drones sent out by tanks who then get killed despawn on their own. Having to deal with phantom blips on the RADAR and dots on the minimap from drones that fly into range of the friendly airfield is just a pointless annoyance.

  1. affects all leopards, not just sweden
  2. the strv122s still arguably the best tanks in the game

sweden isnt the only nation with spikes?

i fail to see how its specifically sweden getting thrown under the bus, do you just not play any other nations? sweden isnt getting nerfs more or less than any other nation

also as you say, 40mm proxy fuse entered the market in 1975, the veak was a single prototype from 1964, why would it get proxy?

Give veak 40 HE-VT will make it to 9.0+, consider M247/PGZ09 is overperforming now, Veak40 will be better because it has AP

Because they were developed concurrently, with one source I’ve heard about even saying that they were tested together, and it’s a nobrainer that if the VEAK had entered serial production, it would have used those rounds.

Gaijin has already set the standard for prototypes with the Yak-141. If it was intended to recieve something, and it could have done with minimal modifications, then it should recieve that in game. The VEAK requires no modifications of any kind to use HEVT, and so it should receive it.

there is no standard, every single time gaijin does something similar it is done differently

can you share these sources?

This is apparently the source. I say apparently as I don’t speak Swedish. Though, to be fair, the person who posted it here clarified it merely states that HEVT was tested at the same range the VEAK was tested at, at the same time. Could have been seperate projects, but it feels wild to me to think that the Swedish armed forces were making a cutting edge SPAA, along with cutting edge ammuntion that’s inherently compatible with said SPAA, and the thought that the former should use the later never occured to them.

I also dont speak swedish but this source seems entirely unrelated to SPAA, its about radar and radar countermeasures

Here’s the OP’s explanation.
