I’m just not going to play until I see assurances that each match won’t be a slot machine.
Last time, I think I lost a few hundred K and didn’t enjoy it at all. It still doesn’t address the fundamental problem with missiles across all Air Modes. Until there’s a mechanic that punishes dumping missiles just to get a couple kills, it will continue to be miserable to play anything without 8+ ARHs.
Alright, I don’t even know what language to say this in anymore, but please stop with your anti-air systems. This is the third time the mode has been added, and three times the same thing has been ruining the experience!!!
The main problem is as they’ve said before, War Thunder is a sterile environment. The only thing you’re getting cover from is hard terrain, whereas vehicles like Gepards and Tunguskas, or anything really, shouldn’t be able to fire through trees, which they currently do. I can’t even target the moving convoys because if I fly too high I’ll die, but too low and I cant see the 2S6’s which fire through trees anyway.
You can say what you want about “SAMs being hard”, but being engaged by S300 THERE is unjustifiable.
By the time I reach the warzone the missile is more than halfway in by the way.
Also that arbitrary 30km limit in TGP does not help when trying to destory said SAM with GNSS weapons.
Believe me or not, I’m actually having a pretty good time with it. Take 35mins fuel and climb to around 3km and Mach 1, then fire like 3 ALARMs at each HAWK site ; the loft on the ALARM is good to get out of its FOV. If you see EWRs you can shoot 1 missile at each of them cause they’re easy kills. I normally get 3-4 kills per run and do about 6 per game, plus 600sp nuke to get an extra like 7 kills. It helps the team loads cause most players die to the HAWK missiles as they have no clue what they’re doing.
Tested it for a couple of games myself but the KH-31PD don’t do shit right now. I have even tried to launch at SAMP/T from ~30-40KM but either the radar turns just off and the missile goes off course or they all get intercepted. I even tried to wait a couple of seconds before launching a second but no dice.
Honestly it felt more balanced at the end of the previous iteration. But I honestly have no clue what they could do to make it less painful.
Well you are playing the Su-30MKM on the Blue side, against Red with S-300s using Kh-31PDs. Literally “easy” mode for you since Blue side has aircraft can that take advantage of the change for GBU-39, GBU-53, and AGM-154A1 JSOW.
Red side does not have that luxury and that puts them at a disadvantage right now.
So, having played both sides and eras i have mixed feelings about this play test.
Ship defenses are way overtuned. I’m not talking about missiles like SM-2. Even naval guns like 130mm can take down multiple anti ship missiles.
SPAA changes are good and also bad. I’ve had times where a singular missile slip past IADS and strike S300 Search radar or Single tungska take down 4 GBUs and 2 HARMs. Longer range systems are coin toss whether or not they will hit you or not. Shorter range systems can be manageable but sometimes they overlap each other and create an unpenetrable wall. Sometimes they track you through terrain, sometimes not.
Insisting on Red VS Blue is nice but it simply does not work in the current environment and creates an unfair advantage. I don’t think people would complain if S300 and patriot shared same stats. i bet most wouldn’t mind if the battles were mixed like in the RB
TPOD max render distance limitations also has to go as well. 30km is too low for the mode.
Lastly the economy… It is currently far worse than the AirRB rewards. Repair costs can drag you down to negatives if playing carelessly. Definitely needs another pass.
No wonder nobody wants to play the red side anymore and the blue side has waiting times of over 30 minutes. The red side was too strong, but what is this supposed to be now? KH31s simply don’t hit at all anymore. At long range, the radar is just switched off, and when you get closer, the missile misses its target because, surprise, the Kh-31 only hits from a certain distance since it is very sluggish.
Also, what is this nonsense with 6 Kh-38MTs being completely intercepted while 20 GBU-53s can just fly through completely undetected? It’s also nice that there are aircraft on the blue side that can use the KH-31PD, but on the red side there are no aircraft that have access to the GBU-53 or JASOW. Nice balance, Gaijin.
Unfortunately, balance does not mean that when one side is too strong, you simply turn everything around by 180 degrees. Otherwise, as is currently the case, you end up with no one wanting to play that side anymore
Yep. It couldn’t be any easier. And when you run out of radars to destroy, there’s ships (which do not defend against Kh-31AD at all) or ground units which the Kh-38MT is extremely effective against.
Although, without the MKM blue side is kinda screwed.
Is there any information regarding the AN/ASQ-213 (HARM targeting pods) and its ability to create points of interest for other onboard weapon systems to use?
I feel like this capability would make the PoBIT significantly more powerful in DEAD operations, especially for Nuclear Escalation
ItOs don’t use radar to guide the missile. They point their crosshair on the target to beam guide the missile since the guidance system is Semi-Automatic (SACLOS). It’s the same concept like the Rolands.
