Yes! I forgot about this. The inability to lock the AI convoy over islands has been a problem in Encounter matches for years. While inconvenient, you can overcome this problem in RB by rolling the pipper over the target to get the exact range, then firing at that spot without a hard lock. In AB, the guns simply won’t shoot at that range without locking.

It is even more infuriating in Arcade currently as these AI convoy botes can shoot YOU when you cannot lock them. Even with my fully maxed crewed AND Aced trained botes I still cannot lock them, but they will focus fire me for an entire match EVEN when I am behind islands. Absolute garbage. (And I am 100% sure it is the AI botes, because when I tap J it shows no name. So it’s not just a “normal” named AI bote, but 100% one of the convoy botes. I have also seen them shooting me many multiple times, even without the J test.)

welp gaijin have been adding bunch of stuff to make the game worse, things we never asked for. Arcade is now just clicking on ships.
