As the title suggests, Rewarding players the kill because they hit the enemy last is unfair as assists rarely give any reward compare to an enemy kill.
I feel like this system should be reworked because this encourages scummy tactics like kill stealing which ruin the overall gameplay
Of course there will be times where two or more players will be focusing on a single ship so there needs a way to distinguish using teamwork to take down an enemy and kill stealing.
What I don’t know is how this rework can be implemented without being overly complicated. So if you agree that a rework is needed, how can this be done? If you don’t agree, why is that?
the kill does go to whoever does the most damage. This was introduced with the “severe damage” a while ago. If you did not get the kill and only got an assist then it means you did not do the enough damage.
oh wait you meant ships, my bad. Severe damage is only for planes. Tanks and Ships kill goes to whoever land the finishing blow. I agree that kill stealing sucks, but I don’t think there is any way for “severe damage” or similar mechanic to be added for ships and tanks because they can repair themselves mid fight and there is no “severe damage” for them
With severe damage mechanic existing, I really don’t understand why it’s not ported over in some form to naval. (I can see it operating on a slightly different mechanic, but the result being largely the same).
Agreed, whoever does the damage that leaves the target ship without enough crew members to make repairs (or made it take in the water that sunk it) should get the kill
+1, we need something like severe damage but for naval. It is incredibly annoying to get a ship down to <10% crew and a bot steals it with single HE shell, leaving you with just an assist right before you got the kill.
I would like to see the score be divided over the % of crew.
I guess the kill credit could be given to that one that does the most damage. Maybe give two players the kill if say one took out 60% of crew while the other got an ammo rack that finished it off.
wait till you do >96% of the damage on your own and a bot gets the kill for the last
speechless, shock and anger fit
you dont even bother trying to correct gaig coders cause you know from this it is just hopeless trying to get them to think
had to modify this cause someone was a bit precious and hid it
Over 50% of wing section destroyed (depending on wing shape this can be surprisingly hard to achieve. You can shoot off a pla e’s wingtip which sends them into a spin and only get an assist)
All control surfaces destroyed (so shooting off just the rudder of a maneuvering aircraft and sending into a spin can and will give you an assist even though it was your hit that neutralized the enemy)
Blackened horizontal stabilizer (ergo dont need to cut it off. Meaning you will be credited a kill for doing damage that reduces enemy turn performance but is otherwise harmless to ability to retain control of the plane even with full real controls)
Destroyed all engines
Notice how killshots (wing separation, rudder destruxtion) which cripple aircraft that while can be recovered mean you must disengage and rtb dont count as kills…
But damage you can ignore if loss of turn performance isnt critical (say energy fight or bnz) does count as a kill.
I have cases where fighting p38s gave me multiple counts of severe damage and the p38 was still flying quite cheerfully thanks to its horizontal stabilizer being weird. P38s at the same time never credit severe damage for wing cut off because of their twin boom design.
The only thing with that, is that the first 60-70% of crew is really easy to kill, but the last 10-20% can be the hardest.
So someone who spammed HE and killed 70% of the crew being rewarded more than the guy who actually finished off the ship via something like an ammo rack or something, would be a little unfair to me.
At least in belfast, i’ve been brought down to below 30% by a spamming destroyer extremely quickly and then lasted the next 10-15 minutes quite happily, whilst fighting other light cruisers
Id just have it so that kills are rewraded to anyone that does significant damage equally
Ammo racks
30-40% crew damage
X number of critical modules destroyed (Bridge, boiler room, turrets, etc)
X% of hull damage / last hit on a hull section (especially if the kill is from flooding)
etc etc
A large chunk of the reward is already from dealing damage and less so on the kills, so giving 2-4 people the reward for the kill potentially, isnt that big of a deal imo.
