There’s no such thing as a coastal mode, all vessels are intertwined from the get go (especially in the old tree) with the only closest thing being sub BR 3.3 yetveven than there’s technically bluewater ships, like it or not playing any form of small craft spawning vessels isn’t against the rules, the player capping is still just securing the lead for their side.
Another thing is playing such vessels at higher BR’s will usually have less issues in being instantly countered by superior opposition even at their own BR’s, be from their spawns or the medium craft spawns.
The issue isn’t the player vessels, you yourself also have this opportunity to do so, the main issue is the in game ticket bleed. Years ago it wasn’t an issue but the devs increased it to current speeds, if it was once again reduced the heavier vessels would be able to also A, play the map & B, counter the caps eventually. The ticket bleed cause by a motor boat or floatplane doesn’t just effect the highest BR’s but all BR’s as even destroyer types have trouble countering the bleed on many maps.
Anyway we’re all here to win.
What about daily challenges like “win 3 matches with 70%+ activity”?
That gameplay might help with those.
unfortunately winning by cap bleed in 7min on top naval doesnt even give anything for reward.
Heck you play normal naval game and lose and still get about 100x more rp and sl compared to useless cap win , doing nothing else.
in most game modes time is by far the most important factor when it comes to RP rewards. Having good mission score is somewhat needed, but it basically just increases the cap of how much RP you will in the end get based on time. This means long battles = higher RP rewards, so anything that makes battle shorter not only lowers average rewards across the board but also recycles players through matchmaking faster (especially necessary for mostly dead bot-infested game mode like naval)
nukes in ground battles work in similar way … players see flashy animation and chance to clutch a win by dropping nuke, but Gaijin doesn’t care at all about which team wins, for them the important part is that dropping nuke stops all time-based RP gain early, lowers RP per battle and boots everyone from battle to funnel them into MM queue again
also why nothing will ever be done against spawn camping and why map design literally steers players towards it … again, it is something that pushes players towards making decisions that lead to battles being on average a bit shorter, cutting down time based RP rewards by a little and shovels players back into MM queue
all these things are just something that steers battles towards shorter time and lower rewards … and for Gaijin it has the added advantage of being less obvious way than outright saying “now we’ll nerf rewards by X%”
So this is why? You can destroy the PT boats, or spawn your own, those are your options.
Why would I play PT boats when I’m grinding BBs, and why would I end the match in under 10 minutes not only hurting my own RP and SL rewards but everyone else. And you try destroying a PT boat with BB guns while they are on a point behind an island on the other side of the map. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard
It is 100% the player vessels. No one who is actually playing top tier naval and trying to grind BB’s (especially with new ships coming like the NC in USA) are gonna play PT boats. The second no one brings a PT boat to top tier, the matches normally last almost for the whole timer. I’ve had multiple matches end because time ran out and not from ticket bleed. Ticket bleed isn’t the problem, it’s the people who decide “I’m gonna ruin the game for everyone else”. There is no reason for coastal ships to be that high up on maps with multiple capture points.
And for the “there’s no such thing as coastal”, they have their BR, play it at their BR.
Naval does NOT need faster matchmaking. I’ve very rarely waited over 30 seconds for a match, and even then, I’d be perfectly fine with waiting in a longer queue for a longer match, than waiting 30 seconds for a 8 minute game that I can’t even do anything in.
Naval does not benefit from people cutting the round short.
Is this a major problem in Arcade Naval? I play Realistic and the closest I’ve seen to this is when the larger vessels launch their spotter planes to cap. Heck, I do it myself.
If you are not on a Circle map, a small craft may be needed to reach certain cap points. While in Naval, those small craft can not only cap the point, but they are faster and more maneuverable than a larger vessel. They will be needing that to deliver their payload of torps.
Your question was, “WHY DO PEOPLE STILL PLAY THEM IN TOP TIER?” They do it because they can. It’s the same as somebody taking a Tier I vehicle into GB. Maybe they want to end the match sooner, maybe they need the win for a challenge. Who knows?
My advice is to squash them like a bug as soon as you see them. Let your teammates know that it’s out there. Nothing gets your heart beating faster than a full team’s BB salvo homing in on you as you serpentine towards them for a torp drop!
Nice idea… But usually you can shoot caps from BB spawn, and having 20+s landing time on salvo is real fun to even try shooting em.
Most of times other team just doesnt have PT boats, since they actually want to play and grind sl and rp.
It is so frustrating how useless those games are. Not to mention capping players on top tier
6mins, ticker bleed, and wow, the one who capped got 3-400 score most, rest not even that much , depending on map. It just doesnt do any good

It’s called playing the game as intended
There is literally no need for those points that can ONLY be reached by PT boats at top tier naval.
And you try shooting a PT boat on the other side of the map with a 16 inch salvo, then come back to me about “just kill them” Not a single person who plays a PT boat in top tier naval does it to do torpedo runs. They do it to cap a point and that’s it. Now if you remove the PT boat caps, then maybe you will have people actually using PT boats for torpedo runs.
There is no point for there to be PT only caps at top tier naval that end the match in 8 mins. You can’t even get to the BB caps before the tickets run out.
Sure sure, if you want no SL or RP and like waiting in queue! Definitely makes sense genius!
Okay, so what is your solution?
Please, I’d love to hear your constructive input to help move this thread along.
And yes, I have killed PT boats “from across the map” on multiple occasions as have many other players.
You 100% have killed a PT boat with a BB broadside from across the map behind an island, 100%. And I love the fact that you’re response completely ignores the multiple inputs shared already that no one has yet to comment on, including yourself.
If “playing the game as intended” means ending the round in under 8 mins, making it impossible for everyone in the game to get any sort of rewards, and thus ruining the match that people probably waited a decent amount of time for… then you have proven exactly why this is an issue!
Because if you want to counter the PT boats rush capping, then you’d have a PT boat to spawn and counter them with it rather than spawning out in the middle of the water unable to stop them and being mad about them capping the caps.
Be real, you don’t care about anyone elses RP and SL but your own.
