I just wish theyd give all Battleships Stock AP shells of some sort… either that or give them like 3 Bot Games vs Cruisers when u first get new ones cause my god HE is just the most useless thing in the universe in higher BR… literally nonstop firing HE with South Dakota at a Kronshtadt for like 5+ Minutes and all it did was 10-15% crew damage and hull yellow lmao

I am so sick of hitting its ammo with any and every shell to merely yellow it magazine 5-8 salvos in of direct hits on it.
Even using the “Op” SovetSky and shooting at the schanrhorst and watching the biggest holes appear I feel like I’m using a bb gun
Occasionally I’ll get the lucky boom, but for the most part regardless of ship that thing is the tankiest ship in the game. Next to that other German costal boat they removed years back that is a menace to society
Scharnhorst was nerfed to the ground when Leviathans dropped. Anything higher than 7.3 is a death sentence to it since it’s only got firerate as its biggest advantage with painfully low penetration shells.
If you can’t kill a Scharnhorst with a Sovetsky Soyuz, that’s a massive case of skill issue when American BBs can do it pretty reliably with a shell down the elevators.
Do you have the scharnhorst? Because I would love to test this theory of “skill issue” and not was scharnhorst ever nerfed afaik

Scharnhorst was hit hard with the survivability changes that came with Leviathans.
It went from ‘the entire team has to focus fire the Scharnhorst with two or three people dying in the process’ or ‘The team with more Scharnhorsts wins’ to ‘It now instantly dies with some consistency via shells down the ammo elevator or through the front of the bow’.
I have played - and fought against - the damn thing. Gneisenau has the same weakness as Scharnhorst, except minus 3 guns and the guns are actually scary in the 7.x bracket.

The same problems of the Scharnhorst sisters also exists with Bismarck. I don’t particularly like fighting Bismarck in a Kirishima or Kongou with their garbage british 35.6cm guns but it’s certainly doable.

No, a high horse comment would be dissing you for using the new automated damage control system. If you didn’t know, you can change it in the menu settings - I generally recommend it but it’s bugged right now; first spawn causes automatic unflooding which is mildly annoying.
You’re also shooting it at 8km where turtleback actually starts doing its job. You’re also firing SAP.
Curious that of all the ships to resist Soyuz SAP it’s a freaking Scharnhorst lol.
Also the fact you immediately blacked two of three sectors needed to sink the damn thing should be mentioned. One more and it would be dead regardless of ammunition explosion.

“Aim Stern, Aim Bow”. Agree. Good advice but like… we don’t really aim. We can’t really correct easily or at all when its undershooting (which it does a lot at distance)… like, wtf is this even. It’s like an idle game but you have to keep you finger on the left mouse button so like… its super inconvenient to tab out to some entertainment while waiting 25s to 30s each shot.
I hit the ammo elevators 6 times that match, and the ship randomly detonated to a bot.
Also, at no point did I fire SAP, I only shot APHE.
And the scharnhorst has smaller guns being 283s right? But they’re still plenty capable.
That’s why, again it makes no sense why the scharnhorst is 7.3 where it can see 6.3s it’s impervious to.
It never got nerfed, and a nerf isn’t really the same as a br change in my opinion.

28.3cms with 17.2 second reload that used to be magnetically attracted to ammunition because Warthunder thought it was okay to spawn the damn thing at 10 to 12 km instead of 20 to 24. 582mm of penetration at point blank is abysmal in the 7.x bracket and the main reason they do so well is because almost everything else it can see has garbage armor layouts.

From what I saw in the video, you were hitting upper belt at 8km. Shells into upper belt at that range - especially from a Soyuz or Iowa - may not even arm fast enough.
Of course at that range you can just punch straight through the main armor belt since you need about 500mm to 550mm at angle to reliably get through it and the turtleback. Which Soyuz straight up can.
Then it’s a gamble if fuel tank eats first salvo. Like fuel tanks usually do in general.
Mutsu could not kill the damn thing pre Leviathans.
Hell, an entire team couldn’t kill a single one pre Leviathans without losing between 1 and 4 ships. Or more.
Pre leviathans Scharnhorst could lose all turrets and secondaries and then sit there fighting fires and flooding while its team gangbanged you while you did maybe 1 to 2% of crew damage on a good salvo.
It was nerfed and it deserved the nerf. A single Scharnhorst before Leviathans could dive your spawn and unless you had torps, there wasn’t a damn thing you could do aside from pray.
And even if you had torps, the game could decide it eats the entire spread for only minor flooding.
This is not hyperbole. It’s fact. You can literally search the forums for how astronomically ridiculous of a monster Scharnhorst was for roughly 2 to 4 years.

99% of these stats is pre-Leviathans Scharnhorst.
So, trying to shoot a plane doing a run on a teammate, gunners targeted and lead, until… he got CLOSE to a ridgeline between our LOS, then, gunners just fire where the reticale was. This happened again and again where the gunners decided to lead or not at all, despite the fact that I had actual LOS. The proximity of the ridge line to our LOS, despite not blocking it, still cause gunners to throw tracking.
So like… I can’t even mitigate Aimbot targeting myself. It just… decides when it wants to aimbot or not willy nilly.
Just… give us back control of aiming. So frustrating.
