Adding to this conversation. I have been a naval arcade player for years. Basically since it came out. I play almost exclusively coastal, which is already a struggle for me, but this update has ruined the game mode entirely. I looked forward to new coastal ships being added on the off chance that it happened, but now I have no reason to touch it. I can no longer hit anything. There is no visual feedback for my shots. I can’t control the guns like I want to. And having the ship do all the aiming (though no aiming is actually taking place lmao) takes all the remaining fun out of it! If the ship is gonna do all the work, then why the hell am I even here? BRING BACK THE OLD AIMING SYSTEM!! Or at least make it an option!!!
The DDs now just can sherd the boats with ai controlled bofors, just use X for lock and the boat will die, lol. well done, what a legend. who come up of this s***, lol.
NAB is dead.
- Having easier aiming and no need to aim at all is different things. Imagine if they made the range and lead measurements more frequent than they were, that would have improved the accuracy of aiming without taking away skill from the equation.
- The new aiming favors highly maneuverable fast firing ships, where they have more chances to hit, and have a way to fool AI aim bot so that it misses them instead of hitting. No way for player to manually adjust. And they made torpedoes more deadly too… JIN destroyers are now laughing out loud when they spam their torps without any punishment.
- Bots are now using the same aiming mechanism, that made them too effective at most ranges.
NRB would be an alternative if only it wasn’t so slow, and you didn’t need to manually reload your torps/bombs by GOING HALF ACROSS THE MAP TO YOUR SPAWN.
So, now in NAB we have no skill, no balance, no fun. Way to go. Guess I leave the game for good now.
that means you dont have distance correction bound… get it bound to mousewheel so you dont have to shoot two screens below…
how about shoot 2 screens sideways when you on parallel opposite directions with target?
thats what you get for playing arcade, both of you are too fast, and if both of you go different directions then theres nothing you can do, you have to lead two screens away as you just said. This isnt a problem on realistic.
I was about to write the same but then I thought that is better not to give them any ideas LOL
Still better than no control over where the AI aims the guns. You can listen to your crew about changes in opponent speed and aim WHERE THE SHIP ISN’T at the moment, and hit your target.
Now, though, there is no visible indication where the shells will land at all, and no skill involved into predicting your opponent, no skill involved in hitting a target that is moving… You don’t need any skill now, it’s just click simulator now with some fancy effects and randomized chance to hit.
RB isn’t a solution either, as I don’t want to squint my eyes to see my opponent, I don’t want to go halfway across the map to reload torpedoes/bombs, I don’t want the slowness of RB and no way of telling who my opponent is even point-blank…
RB is too hardcore for me, AB is too braindead now, guess it’s time to get a life)
You never had this in arcade… what kind of game are you playing?
Then go play war thunder mobile…
Let me guess ;)
Top BR air RB, 5.7 air RB, top BR ground RB, and… probably 5.3 naval RB is the most challenging.
In previous system there wasn’t any of this either - just ‘aim at circle or “V” mark’ game and get vertical adjustments. You still can predict you just don’t know how, try it more and you realize, you just don’t used to it now. And yet you have more time to maneuver and dodge enemy shots. DD and cruisers can actually kite bigger ships now and still make a good shots, speed now maters more.

here is example of actual gameplay now
they even closed the report w/o reason…
are you really sure you played arcade? The V-marker existed only in RB mode - in Ab it was a green circle where to aim and a second circle where the shoots will be land
With Realistic aiming option you could get it in Arcade in previous control system. All pro arcade players used it.
this option didn’t work any more - there are a number of postings about this. bug report was closed w/o reason. And the auto-aimbot ruins coastal gameplay as they will be killed even at spawn by bluewater ships
Are you arguing with yourself?
Nothing seems ruined in costal for me. Just need some br tweaks.
- You at least had the indication where the shells will splash.
- You also had chance to avoid getting hit due to opponent being bad at aiming.
Now you don’t see where you shoot, so prediction is harder, and skill issue is eliminated by AI adjusting your bad aim to mere point and click, rather than complex aiming.
no its not, if you think it is you can experiment in RB and realize its not
you can see “V” shoving you just point at sea not where shots land, neither where enemy ship will be, just point where you need to aim crosshair to hit the enemy ship in the “center of model” which is bullshit and counterintuitive cause when you aiming IRL your crew and automation compensate your and target speed when aim.
and here you barely see where target is(its RB btw in arcade with previous system you cant see the target) so how you can aim good not see where your shots land, you need to accept that you just aimed at some marker in the sea which give you some “right” information only when you and you target have uniform and rectilinear motion, adjust that on your and enemy speed and you got current system which is intuitive and entertaining .
New system just do that and its good, you concentrating on where to shoot .
you still can just outmaneuver enemy shots(either it’s not yours achievement opponent “bad aiming” )
I can see where i shoot why don’t you? You just can’t to look at imaginable point in the sea anymore. I know if enemy turning i must compensate this with left or right adjustment relatively to the target not the some point at sea.
I can easily say the same for NAB, these br are (was…) the most enjoyable
I can live without V or green lead marker, but seing the other pointer that indicates your turret position as well as where the shots are fired - that’s the dealbreaker for me. Green sight in RB exists, but now it was removed from AB. Pre-shooting the enemy maneuver becomes harder and is more random that way. Good luck hitting Atlanta’s with the aimbot when you drive something heavy with long reload.
Outmanoeuvering is not so efficient on slower ships that don’t turn or change speed that easily, which creates an imbalance between them and lighter vessels.
The newer style of aiming just doesn’t hit right with slow and methodical gameplay for me. Previously it had a bit of compexity, rewarding feeling when you hit your mark even without seeing the target. You felt, like a captain directing the fire. Now you just shout “shoot” whenever you feel like it.
Either way, I’m glad you liked the update, keep it up.
I didn’t, so I won’t. I don’t like the change and that is preference.
