How would you do all that given that Gaijin love to mix eras? So you would have a WW1 Dreadnought facing missiles? What countermeasures would it have? I always fancied giving Navy a go but I cant get into more of Gaijin mixed era lunacy,Its bad enough in GRB.
USA. Get the USS Frank Knox, period. Ignore the Moffett. While the Moffett is good, it sits at a higher BR, and will face 6.0 botes in an uptier. The USS Frank Knox is perfect. Perfect BR @ 4.7, perfect armament for a destroyer. Has radar, search and track (can lock onto air targets just like a SPAA and use its proximity fused shells). Excellent auxiliary and anti AA guns, work great on both air and small/coastal boats that venture close to you.
If you want another premium bote to go with the Frank Knox, get the USS Wilkinson. Also has search and track radar and extremely fast firing guns. It is based on its 1958 refit, the guns are extremely fast autoloaders.
Oh, and another great thing about the Knox and Wilkinson is they have extremely fast targeting/lead update timers. There are 3 or 4 levels for the lead indicator timer. The Knox has 6 second updating, and Wilkinson has 3 second updating. VERY useful, especially for new players. (Most boats take 12 seconds or longer for the lead indicator to update.)
USS Frank Knox is the best premium bote for a new player, for any country, in any BR. If you don’t get the Knox right now, absolutely get it and the Wilkinson when they go on sale. Knox = 800 GE on 50% sale, Wilkinson = 575 GE on 50% sale.
Thanks for that ,Gives me a clear pathway. I did pick up the USS Detroit on Battle Pass ,not sure if its any good but I do have a few BP ships lying about.Never seen the sea : )
Cheers brother! Yeah so with how the BR’s work in Naval currently, there are some nasty good botes at 6.0 BR. So, if you use a 5.0 bote you will very often get uptiered with those 6.0 botes. And even worse, if you use a 6.0 or 6.3 bote, you will almost always get upped to 7.0. Now, once you have a nice lineup, spaded and expert trained etc, thats not horrible. But to start out is NOT very fun. Keeping your lineups below 4.7 while you learn and grind/spade new botes will be much more enjoyable 🙂
OH derp forgot to mention, naval already gives quite good SL rewards, with premium bote and/or prem time it is $$$$ lol. The Knox is a superb SL grinder 😄
ALSO BTD-1 loadout:
Use the mines =D They have more tnt eq, and if you miss, it will sit in the water and still possibly snag a kill if someone runs over the mine 😈 Ignore torpedos for CAS pretty much completely. Early on in the past naval did not have as many very good anti air botes. Nowadays, you will almost certainly get shredded before you get into torp range in your plane 💥 (If you play realistic then using the mines might be kind of a pain with the BTD-1 as it does not have a bomb sight. MAYBE you could try torps, but still quite risky. Just a heads up.)
It would be interesting but reminder that bluewater fleet are from 1945 and below(what im seeing, could be wrong) anti ship missle would break the entire lineups, gaijin need to give newer bluewater fleet, if not then this would be push far away until they do so
Ahhhh, so that is an Omaha class ( USS Detroit ), def not bad, it’s like that recent “RU” bote, the Murmansk . It IS 5.0 BR however. You could try the Detroit and see how your matches go, a premium is still a premium lol. Especially if you are not ready to get the Knox.
This is the loadout I use for those, imo ignore the AP rounds on the Aux guns, they don’t do anything. Better to fling HE from the aux cannons to start fires. Works at any range whereas the smol AP rounds just bounce at even medium distances:
Well, it’s not a premium, but the Squad SKR-7 is fun/funny lol. Excellent for taking out air targets. Is a coastal, but since it’s not a premium, wont do well grinding out coastal.
For Blue water, I’d say almost any of them premiums other than the Marat, and not because the Marat is bad per se, but just because it’s so high BR. IF you like BB fights though, it is ok/good.
For the mid/lower BR/tier prem RU botes though, really comes down to how high you want to “risk” getting uptiered into.
The Rank 1 botes are so low you wont get a lot of grinding done with them.
The Rank 2 Smelyi 4.3 BR, is fun, but again wont grind very far.
The Rank 3 Blagorodnyy is pretty good, but now you are at BR 5.3 which can and will uptier you into 6.0/6.3.
The Rank 4 Kerch is good, but is 5.3 BR in Arcade and even worse, 5.7 in Realistic. So in NRB, you can get upped into a match with a lot of 6.7 BR Battleships.
The Rank 4 Zheleznyakov I do not have, mostly because it is BR 6.0 and I prefer to stay under the 7.0 uptiers most of the time. It is not a bad bote, however, I have heard from multiple people that it is a bit squishy. So, coupled with its higher BR, prob not a good choice for newer players/those grinding the RU Bote tree from scratch.
Oh and the Murmansk is really not a bad bote, and has quite a good SL % multiplier. Is still 5.0 soooo it’s not perfect BR wise. It has not been listed for sale quite yet on the market, but you can see the buy offers going up already. If you are not on console and can use the market.
Again, biggest choice is how much of an uptier you are willing to tolerate.
