N1K Kyofu - super fast floatplane, strange data founded

Hello,

Today i found a quite strange performance report for N1K Kyofu (Rex) from USA Navy Department, August 1945. Just look at this interesting data - in this report it is stated that Kyofu could reach 600 kph (373 mph) at 5730 meters. On sea level it could go 515 kph. In my opinion that are amazing numbers for plane with big floats which induce massive drag. Also the engine power is impressive here - 1825 HP (take-off).

In books, magazines and internet pages i found information that Kyofu was rather slow with maximum speed in range 450-480 kph. I started to search reports about japanese aircraft performance and BOOM - found this.

Now i just want to see this version of Bad-Ass Kyofu in the game. Float plane casually flying with speeds 550-580 kph (floats NOT removed). That would be funny.

these look like SAC sheets, which are not to be trusted

How can you tell after 80 years which report is 100% trustworthy? What are “SAC sheets”?

SAC sheets, or standard aircraft characteristics sheets often use a variety of sources which are contradictory. for example, on the f8f-1’s sac sheet, the manifold pressure listed is too low for the horsepower it is supposed to put out

That’s way overestimating the N1K’s top speed, and AFAIK there was never an 1800hp engine fitted to it.
They are likely confusing it with the N1K1-J, which will go about as fast as those numbers you posted.
