M48 is 7.7, trading scouting for armor.
Ru 251 has M47/48’s gun on a light tank. Rather potent.
M18 Super is vastly inferior to Ru 251 & M48.
First off, this would ruin 7.7 where only one tank is vastly superior to all other 7.7s, because Leopard 1 is already a rather good 8.0.
Second, Gaijin would move down other like-tanks as well, because that’s what they do, thus your post is insinuating equivalent 8.0s would also move down, which should not happen.
T-54 1951 & Leopard 1 have similarly good HEATFS rounds, one trades armor for notably more mobility.
I am opposed to “If x great tank moves down to OP BR, then Y needs to go down as well” as well, which while no one here is arguing, is what Gaijin does more times than not, and I oppose that position for good reason, & I oppose that position constantly.

The problem isn’t the tanks, it’s the battle ratings. They need to be decompressed really badly.
As a huge AMX-30 fan, I think 8.0 vehicles across the board suffer because of the technology gap. The game changes completely in a 9.0 uptier, and it can sometimes feel downright unfair.
I mentioned this in another post, but an XM-1 can end up fighting vehicles like the AMX-50 (TO90/930) and the Char 25t. That’s a perfect example of why BR decompression is needed.
Can’t lie this isn’t the best argument. The M18 Super has the same gun as the RU 251, along with better gun handling and a .50 cal. While it’s open topped and doesn’t have a HEAT-FS round, I’d still take the M18 Super over the RU 251. In my experience, it’s the better light tank br for br and can easily deal with an RU 251.

if gaijin didnt fck up the luchs completely (cant accelerate even on light slopes while irl it was a great and silent off-roader) as well as the abysmal 20mm ammo performance, the ru would be ok

The M46 is undertiered and should be 7.3.
Comparing a vehicle to the M46 doesn’t make your comparison vehicle seem any less undertiered.
Just because you’re very good with the M46 doesn’t mean everyone else will be. You can’t base that conclusion solely on your own experience because you’re more experienced than the average player.
The M46 is a great tank, but at 7.3 it would become largely redundant because there are better alternatives. There also aren’t enough highly skilled players using it for its statistics to change significantly.
The M46 has a different HEAT FS round with less pen but it’s more reliable.
Skill has nothing to do with it.
Every tank is made up of a collection of attributes, the sum of those attributes determines (along with overall player statistics) it’s BR.
The M46’s closest equivalents are predominantly 7.3 - 8.0, that’s why it’s undertiered.
As long as its from Germany. Other TT are stacked with cold war hardware blapping WW2 vehicles.

I can respect that you want it to go up despite being very good because that’s not something you see every day. I still think it fills an important role in the American and French 7.0 lineups.
It’s really not that overpowered, especially considering that many of the vehicles it regularly faces can destroy it fairly easily if the player knows what they’re doing, and isn’t playing Germany.
In the end, though, I don’t think anything is moving up anytime soon. If there’s one thing War Thunder has taught us, it’s that balance changes tend to take a very long time.

Keeping a vehicle under-tiered for the sake of filling a gap in a tech tree is never a valid or fair argument.
By that same reasoning the IS-6 could move down to 7.0 because Russia does not have a premium heavy tank at 7.0 like the American T29.
Gaps in certain BR’s are inevitable, and that’s fine.
Placing an Object 906 at 6.0 would not be a problem by that logic, given that everything at 6.0 can easily destroy it still.
Obviously a Object 906 at 6.0 would be incredibly busted. The same applies to the M46, just because a vehicle can be killed does not mean it cannot be under-tiered.
- The M46 has mobility close to that of a Leopard 1.
- It has superior (more versatile, thanks to M82) firepower to a Leopard 1.
- It has equal, if not marginally superior gun handling to a Leopard 1.
- It’s got superior armour to a Leopard 1.
- It’s got better survivability than a Leopard 1.
Meanwhile, the Leo 1 is 8.0 and the M46 7.0.
Most obvious take is the Hellcat. The base version has a aphe shell as well, just slightly worse. Is even a bit faster…has cal50 on top: BR just at 6.0.
The upgunned super hellcat has exactly the same M82 shot, retains superior speed and cal50. BR is 6.3.
But the German one is 7.3. A whole BR bracket higher?!?! For WHAT? This HEAT shot which almost never works to penetrate and to damage something which isn’t a light? And now it should be 7.7 BR. While Hellcats still fight teams which dont even moven with 1/3 of its speed. Securing easy wins.
