In Defense of the Ru 251
This will be a relatively short defense of why the Ru 251 should remain at 7.3.
The Ru 251 is finally in a good place after receiving its APHE round. It now fills an even more important role in Germany’s 7.3 lineup, which is already one of the weakest lineups at its BR.
Outside of the M47, there are very few competitive options. The Luchs A2 and Wiesel 1A4 can certainly perform well in the right hands, but they’re highly situational and cannot consistently replace the flexibility that the Ru 251 provides. On top of that, both vehicles have a rough stock grind, making the lineup even less enjoyable for players progressing through the tree.
If the Ru 251 is moved to 7.7, Germany’s 7.3 lineup loses one of its only reliable vehicles. The only realistic replacement would be the 6.7 leKPz M41, forcing players to rely on a lower BR vehicle in an already weak lineup. Meanwhile, the Ru 251 would be moved into Germany’s 7.7 lineup which doesn’t really need a capable light tank.
This change wouldn’t improve overall game balance; it would simply make an already struggling lineup even weaker while making a somewhat stacked lineup stronger. The Ru 251 is EXCELLENT NOW, but it’s not breaking the BR. It finally has a clear purpose, and that’s supporting Germany’s underperforming 7.3 lineup.
Please keep the Ru 251 at 7.3. It improves lineup balance, gives Germany a competitive light tank where it’s actually needed, and makes the 7.3 lineup far more enjoyable to play without creating balance issues elsewhere.
The other replacements:

okay +1
remove M82 shot then

It’s a lighter faster Leo 1. Makes sense to be 0.3 lower.
7.3 getting to see 6.7 when not even in full downtime is nuts for it
Yes and no. The APHE round makes a significant difference, as the HEAT-FS round is incredibly inconsistent and would sometimes fail to penetrate even the weakest targets. With the new APHE round, the tank becomes very strong in flanking roles, as it can reliably one shot most vehicles it engages.
For this reason, I would prefer it remain at 7.3 without it.
I think it’s healthier for the overall game to have mid cold war prototypes further away from ww2 BRs so I support it being moved up as a mix of fairer balance and decompressing
I do agree with you, but that’s a different discussion because I think there should be a WW2 focused game mode that removes all post WW2 and Cold War vehicles like the PT-76 and others.
M46 at 7.0 with very good mobility as well and M47 at 7.3 but the Ru 251 needs to be 7.7?
The PT76 should be higher. The thing has been a monster to play in advance mode on the attack. Most cold war stuff should be segregated but there is a fair few that are pretty balanced amongst the ww2 vehicles
You do know it recently received a new round, right? Sorry, did you read any of this?
I do because I reported it lol. M46 and M47 have the same ammo selection as the Ru 251 at 7.0 and 7.3. M46 especially has much better armour and good mobility too. So why does the Ru 251 need to be 7.7 just because it has M82 now?
The PT-76 sits at such a low battle rating that many of the players using it have little to no experience with the game. This often negatively affects its effectiveness at its BR. At the same time, people tend to forget that the M36B2 is also available, which is the strongest allied tank destroyer in that game mode.
I’m not saying it should be 7.7, but Spookston did, and I’m worried that his video might affect the Ru 251’s BR placement.
Ahh alright. Yea spookston says a lot of stuff…
He’s a very good player and will perform much better than the average player. I don’t like that he didn’t consider how weak the 7.3 lineup is.
The Jackson that gets heat-fs is powerful, but it’s not two plane stabilised with heat-fs powerful
The PT-76 only gets a 200 mm penetration round fired from a 76 mm gun, while the M36 Jackson gets a 305 mm penetration round fired from a much larger 90 mm gun. This is what I managed to do with the 5.3 M36 Jackson in that game mode, just imagine what could have been done with the M36B2 equipped with the HEAT FS round.
