Move the t80UD to 10.7 or even 11.0

Exactly, I made the same mistake when I first unlocked it.

The T-90M got another buff… It has an IRST, which you can literally use to track helicopters and aircraft and just use an ATGM with IRST or use the time-fuse HE shell. Extremely useful against those drones, helicopters and aircraft. Gaijin had turned this thing into an armoured SPAA.

Thats a bit of a stretch don’t you think?

A little bit.

realistically, you arent hitting a drone with HE-VT unless you get lucky, and you sure as hell aren’t hitting jets, maybe helicopters.

actually… its not that hard or uncommon, really

i did just that on sabra, which has air tracking and HE-VT as well, works just fine for me

So, T80UD to 11.0 when? 10.7 already took forever.

I don’t know how survivable a tank with four crew, a cramped turret, ammo everywhere and without many modules can be, but it can surely tank a lot of things with it’s armor. Also, it definitely helps that 279 is a pretty rare tank, so many didn’t even get a chance to learn how to deal with it properly.

This video perfectly showcases my previous point.
From what I’ve seen, that dude shot your external fuel tanks found in the bottom of your tank not once, but twice, which probably means he had no idea what he’s looking at, let alone where to shoot you.

Getting out alive, with only one crew member dead, from an engagement where you received five shots to the side is the perfect storm of various things that makes 279 so good.

80B has 1100HP engine.
I was comparing 80UD with 80U as the person I replied to originally mentioned it.

Yeah, but the 90M got a TF shell, so you have to range find, etc, first. Fine for helicopters, less so for jets. It’s not like the Chinese who strap HE-VT to everything.

Nvm, the T90M has a TIME FUSE shell, not a VT shell

May bad but point still stands.

Admittedly, it’s a common scenario with 279, lol. The 14.5mm is really most useful for dispatching Turms III in downtiers, more than anything.

It an time fuse not an proxy fuse shell so it will just explode in that specific range even if you evade it, it still gonna explode which still can get you an critical hit and sometimes even enough to bring it down. You can for sure hit a jet that flying straight.

Yeah, people overestimate 80UD’s mobility which isn’t anything special at 9.3, let alone 10.7.

small mistake on my part, it was a HE-TF shell

actually no, your detonation distance is set automatically when you lock a target

How? You need to set a range in by rangefinding, THEN shoot and hope the jet doesn’t move closer or further…

You have a lead indicator from the IRST when you track, and it will automatically give you the range and the position of where to aim your gun, and you just fire then the plane get shot down.

That video is perfect.
It shows that 9.0 rounds like DM23 are perfectly capable of defeating armor, but people don’t really know what to do as 1v1 duels against 279s isn’t something you’ll have every day.

That TAM surely expected you to have 7.62mm coax like 64A, but it turned it’s side flat towards the 14.5mm lol.

Right, my bad.
