Happends sometimes. Also happends is fuel tank explosion. Squares it based on my experience at least.
well its up to you. I do in fact believe Olifant isnt the worst 9.3 tank out there. And its not that it is MUCH bigger than said M48/M60 guys.
well thats why it does not. Same cant be said about Olifant.
Thats an interesting thing to learn, thank you. I guess then it comes to the spots you shoot enemies then? Whether its ~80mm steel plate (LFP of UD for examle) or the 40mm steel plate + combined armor (2a4 for example)?
How would you know? Come back to me when you use the damn 279. Until then, you know nothing.
You suggesting that the T-62M1 is a better choice than 279 shows you know nothing. Absolutely a joke take. 279 is highly mobile for what it is, good reload for 130mm APHE (the most performative round type in the game), is highly survivable (this matters more than armour protection - you survive a lot in 279, it’s not about bouncing shells). It’s just domination on tracks.
Also just so you know - Object279 can actually reverse
That’s 10KM/h faster than T-62M1 and 14KM/h faster than T-72A
So yes, it is highly mobile. You can reverse yourself out of much trouble unlike most Soviet vehicles at that BR.
It also has the 14.5mm that can autocannon all sorts of vehicles to death. Like the CV90105 (10.7):
Again, please don’t talk about topics you know nothing about.
Well, the first is the thermals on the T-72 that are a major advantage, especially in night battles or in darker map. It ignores camouflage, and you can see through those bush hiders easier, especially people who love to hide in dark shades. The T-80 has night vision, but you can’t really see anything that far away.
2. It engine. The T-72 may have a weaker engine, but it is so much quieter than the T-80, which gives it some advantage in stealth fighting.
i mean its actually a great point. 62M1 is one decent MBT at 9.0. On some maps and in some situations, i do believe its superior to 279. Not that it makes 279 obsolete and useless, or even less strong. Its two great tanks that work in pair
I’m tired of people like that guy trying to talk down the 279 when they’ve never used it. I like the T-62M1, but the Object279 is the much better vehicle in the majority of situations. You don’t need a LRF if you’re taking the battle to the enemy like you should be in 279. Even then, the 130mm is easy as pie to aim.
For the armour part, yes. The T-80U has K5 and even has composite armour on the LFP. But it still has an higher chance of it ammunition getting hit, which lows the survivability… but it help them reload faster atleast.
Reverse speed and 14.5 are fair points (completely forgot it has a 14.5).
I wouldn’t personally agree with survivability since i the last time I struggled to kill it was when I first got 8.7 like 4 years ago but I guess it’s not out of the question with 8.0-10.0 players.
130mm aphe may be a great round since it has a ton of pen for aphe and he filler but it’s not like you can’t easily oneshot people with the 115mm (slightly better reload on the 115mm as well). On top of that shell velocity is lower meaning it’s much harder to aim in big open maps. Take variants of Sinai, poland, the french map I forgot the name of as examples. LRF + apfsds is infinitely more valuable there than aphe + RF on those maps. Skill at aiming the gun does close the gap but it still doesn’t always substitute the lack of it. On top of that aphe starts lacking when you meet tanks like xm1, merkava, etc. since it’s more prone to ricocheting and is less effective against early composites.
T62m-1 has better acceleration which does matter in small cqc maps since you’re more likely to get where you need without the enemies getting there first.
279 may be better than the t62m-1 in certain situations and certain matchups, but it’s far less versatile
Here’s me one shotting two Object279 from when they were first released (when it was 8.7). When you only face something you’re only getting one side of the picture. I could walk away from that saying ‘gee, those 279 are sure easy to kill’. But then you play the 279 and you survive things that you simply don’t in other tanks (minus the reverse bug where SPAA were ignoring armour last year).
Playing 279 is full of moments like this and this.
Anyway, my original point was that 279 is not like the Maus or T26E5 or Conq or M103, and other heavy tanks. The only thing it had to worry about in an uptier was having low level premium players in Turms and 2S38 on its team.
CQC is the 279s strength regardless of how long or quick it takes to get somewhere.
Aight, I won’t debate this any further, not that you can debate with someone who has never used the 279.
