Mitsubishi F-2

What the hell is that thing lmao

Two attempts at VTOL research

Regarding the NAL one:

I said this in the R&R thread but, I am a bit hopeful because, on one hand, CM update news generally hints at what’s to come that we generally already knew thanks to leaks and such, with it being more confirmation to drum up hype. However, on the other hand, those posts also usually drop something really obvious like “storm” or “sting” as a way to more or less confirm and set our expectations.

The newest CM post, while mentioning a new jet for Japan, doesn’t have these kind of direct hints. I think most of that actually went to naval. But also, at the same time, there is only one jet that everyone is asking for, for Japan, and that’s the F-2 (even the RU stream spams it from RU players). So even mentioning a new jet for Japan in a way is kind of confirming it (and it was leaked last update as coming, just delayed, much like the EFT and F-18s were).

For my sanity, I’m still going to take it with a grain of salt, as it could just be something Thai related, a.k.a. not F-2, but I am hopeful that this upcoming update might be the update of all time for us.

I have it in the back of my head that GJ could be just messing with people hoping for the F-2 with one of the following:

P-1 would be cool, but not what’s needed.

Wouldn’t say no to the Sabre Dog, even if it would be borderline unplayable garbage.

I wouldn’t mind the T-1 honestly I’ve been spreading its word since before the thai sub tree was added, and now with the R2Y2’s gone well we need something around that area

It’s possible, but I also think it doesn’t really benefit Gaijin to actively mess with their players like that because at the end of the day, they want them to spend money on the game, not turn them away.

I just feel like if they wanted to keep hopes down they wouldn’t say anything, but we shall see of course.

alright gang, let’s see how gaijin manages to mess up the next japan addition!

watch the F-2 not have any guided A2G apart from maybe a sniper pod and jdams on the tippy top tier model

I really want the T-1, especially if they skip on the AIM-9Bs and it stays as a ~6.0 jet.

honestly I expect it

they did say “a jet for japan” and not “a Japanese jet” so It could also be thai.

It’s true yea.

I do hope that they only mentioned a Japanese jet because it’s what we’re all thinking about (you know the one that everyone spammed in the RU dev stream, showing huge demand?).

Otherwise feels like they wouldn’t mention anything for Japan and we’ll find out in the dev server as usual.

It could be Indonesian Rafale or Malaysian Hornet for lol

Malaysia also has some Su-30s!

F-2A was also approved

the F-2A has a pretty solid kit however knowing gaijin and how much they gimped japan already

It’ll make sense if F-2A is missing a portion/large portion of its kit

It would be amazing if they implemented the GCS-1 750 and 500’s (been in the game since 2021 lmao), and give it to the respected craft that operated it (T-2, F-1, F-4EJ ADTW, F-4EJ Kai, F-15MJ and F-2A)

This is my biggest fear. F-2 can be really unique with new control modes, a chance at AESA and missile datalink overhauls, finally a chance to fix AAM-3 and AAM-4 and the perfect time to introduce GCS-1s, ASM-2/2B/3 and maybe even XGCS-2, but it can also be very underwhelming with none of that or sub-par implementations.

There’s no guarantee for HMD since it was only planned and never made, there’s only the 4 + 4 loadout used with 6 + 4 being theoretical and unproven, ASMs take up an MRM station each unless they allow them on inner pylons (if they add them at all) and so on…

And all of that with so many delays that we need at least some of the new features, big reworks and theoretical loadouts only for it to not be sidelined by the top tiers from two updates back. Gaijin really set themselves up for failure…

This is my biggest fear and its not just for the F-2, but all future actual AESA aircraft.

We already have AESA aircraft in game and gaijin treats them exactly like the far inferior russian PESA radars.

If the F-2 does not have the actual functionality of a proper AESA radar there is a little to no chance that gaijin ever implements it’s benefits correctly.

The F-2 in a sense is the last chance of NATO AESA superiority being modeled in WT.

iirc Stepanovich already confirmed that PESA / AESA are corrently lacking features that will be introduced overtime.

Its possible that the difference between PESA and AESA becomes a little bigger in the future, but who knows.

with our luck, it might end up being a F-1 Late or something else Japan doesn’t really need
