What would be the best F-2 we can get currently, that XF-2A late with a fancy radar?
yes that’s the pinnacle F-2 variant in terms of air to air role. 2019 AESA radar, IRST etc.
Best F-2 we can get in theory will have more powerful radar then early variant, thrust-vectoring IIR AAM-5b which can fly longer then AAM-5 and AAM-4B which is kinda similar to AIM120 but with internal AESA radar.
BTW
“A feature of the AAM-4 is that it uses a special modulation method for the command transmitter, seeker, proximity fuse, etc. This allows the AAM-4 to attack without being detected by enemy radar or missile warning systems. This modulation method does not allow command transmission using FCS radar, so a command and guidance device called J/ARG-1 is required for AAM-4 operation”
It would be funny to get invisible ARH, especially with AAM-4b that can hit targets near the ground
We don’t even have LOAL yet, so I wouldn’t expect this stuff to be in the game till like 2028 or longer, if ever.
I don’t see why not. Code-wise it should be same as AIM120 missile but with removed part that makes it visible for RWR. Should come after AESA which I guess we will see this or early next year.
Well yea, it’s not about how simple it is to develop, but rather the concept of it. We’re not even using Fox 3s yet and we’re talking about a Fox 3 that doesn’t ping RWR? Getting a little ahead of ourselves there.
Well, soviet got both thrust vector missiles and 27ER, also pantsir and spall liners for t90m ahead of everyone else. I don’t see any reason why that can be added but not good missile for JP except for being biased
No they didn’t…
R-27ER came after AIM-7F/M, its analogue. USA got such a missile first.
Spall liners came with 2A5+ and T-90M, not just T-90M.
Brits got thrust vectoring missiles first, they’re called SRAAMs. R-73s are the 2nd.
Japan has good missiles, Japan has the best IR missile in the game, AAM-3.
If AAM-4 cannot be picked up on pitbull then it shouldn’t be added, otherwise it should as it’d be a good R-77-1 analogue.
The AAM-4 is also quite a bit heavier than the AMRAAM, and can only be carried by numbers of 4 on any given airframe. An F-15 can carry twice the amount of AMRAAMs than it can AAM-4s.
So wouldn’t balance dictate twice the lethality too?
Which might be even better soon if reports on IR/UV seeker are passed.
There were also those BTT mechanics reported which would increase maneuverability but who knows if they implement that anytime soon
Likely it’s going to take a bit, since prior to my report on BTT mechanics being passed a report was passed on dual-plane maneuvering, I believe close to or over a year prior, and we still haven’t seen anything about that.
Almost 30% faster(which in BVR is A LOT), can restore target lock after it being lost, does not go into space when target makes slightest turn.
You have a very interesting meaning for word “analogue”
Entirely wrong, we have seen just mention about it only after community rant
Is this a joke?
Which should be soon rival with Magic-2 if Gaijin ever fixed those.

Sir, please don’t derail this discussion with provocative language.
This is about Mitsubishi F-2, a jet Ares, Firereid, & I have been anticipating for years.
If you treat Mitsubishi fans this way, it doesn’t help discussions.
What you are saying is correct in the sense that some country will come out on top, but when the Soviet Union becomes the top, it is almost always implemented with capabilities far exceeding those of the other 9 or 8 countries. Simply put, Soviet OPs are characterized by being large and lasting.
R-27R/ER beeing the only missles with IOG, Datalink and SARH homing beeing a good example
Is the capability being described not just datalink? That’s something other missiles will have when it comes, I think saying it “too good” is a bit silly. (and also plenty of nations get too good missiles and vehicles, this is neither new nor unexpected)
