Which specific variants of the Mirage and 111 did they trial? I’ve heard about the Mirage before (think it was an F1C?) but never the 111.
Which F-111 given this was the 1970/late 60’s I think its the F-111A(?)

F-2 Late with J/APG-1 doesn’t make any sense. I expect F-2 Late with AAM-4 and AAM-3 for now, and AAM-4B and AAM-5 added later. There is also a chance that we won’t see these missiles on F-2 at all, and get smth like F-15J JSI with them

Late F-2s have the J/APG-2, and are about the only ones we could get in game at this point.

Perhaps it is time for more advanced weapons now? Seeing how so many planes are now being artificially kept at their weakest due to the weapons they get.
There’s so many top tier jets that irl use much more modern AIM-120s, AIM-9X, IRIS-T, Python 4s and 5s, etc. If we get two version of the F-2 - one without ARH and one with ARH missiles, what can Japan get with AAM-B and AAM-5 later on? Will we have 3 F-15Js and F-2? Will US have 5 different F-15s, F-18s and F-16s? I don’t think grinding the same plane several times all over just because each has different weapons is much fun.
Why would they add a sparrow only f-2 now?
Perhaps as a lower BR premium option similar to the Hornet additions

There is two F-2 they can add as Sparrow only,
XF-2 and F-2 Early. I imagine F-2 Early would come as a premium, similar to F/A-18A and F/A-18C Early duo.

Nah I’d guess XF-2 as premium if anything, there’s no reason they’ll add a prototype when an operational equivalent exists

Japan SHOULD have its GCS-1, but the reality we dont get it (in the game since 2021 nearly 100% ready to use)

Or if they get rid of the AJ, a replacement for it. They could also fill it with the actual F-16A OCU

im surprised and also not surprised. The F-16AJ when it was announced was the temporary replacement for the F-2 in the tree, but they announced the F-2 over 2 years ago.
Japan doesn’t have 14.0 plane at the moment, so new jet - if this jet is F-2 - must be F-2A Late. Japan also lacks of rank 8 premium, and adding of this (over)hyping (really hyping. Even russian players want it!) plane is the best opportunity to add rank 8 premium. Since we have information about only one “jet”, this premium plane also should be F-2. Early. If they add F-2A Early as premium, there is nothing to stop Gaijin to add F-2A Early as tech tree plane. We saw this with JA37DI and F/A-18
I’m quite skeptical about new IR missiles. They are REALLY overpowered. Of course, Gaijn can implement them whatever way they want, but basically they should be almost unflarable because of matrix seeker. With other cool features like LOAL, they WILL be menace of top tier battles. Like 20-30G missiles were before flares.
AAM-4B - IDK. Like, really. We saw improved missiles (R-77-1) with new jets coming, but it was more like “updating to the current level”. I mean, R-77 is probably the worst missile in the game. R-77-1 is just ok.
Sad part - if we see both F-2A Early and F-2A Late - they gonna be in line one after one. So, no F-2A Late at the day one of the new update.
