If it’s copy pasted 9M, the IRCCM should be decent, especially from side aspect and it’s smokeless (more important for ground RB).
I’d be mostly interested in making sure the flight performance is good and better than 9M.
I also hope they fix the radar as I was really hoping for TWS finally.

Correction: seems like they do indeed have good range and energy.
Another thing is the placement in the tech tree.
My opinion is that it should come after the F-1 while the F-16AJ Line should be kept open for the F-2 when it comes.

F-15J follows the F-4E J Kai as an import fighter, F-2 will follow the AJ and F-1 as a domestic fighter
Potentially, though I generally rarely launch rear aspect (mostly cause 9Ls) as they’d get seen and flared off.
Ideally the AAM-3 should be faster? I don’t know what the drag is like but it should zoom through since it’s mach 3.5 instead of mach 2.5? Will have to see what the final performance is. I’m sure the current one is a placeholder that was copied off the 9M.
Shouldn’t the AAM-3 have superior range as it replaced the 9L which has the same motor and range as the 9M?
Hopefully its just WIP as it realistically should be superior to the 9M in most every way.
As much as I’d love to believe this, I think this is only speculation and doesn’t have a source. I believe only the AAM-5 is Mach 3.0+ capable.

Sadly you’re right. I just dont really imagine the missile that completely replaced the sidewinder would have worse range. Too bad thats not enough for a bug report :/
it has a far lower drag coeff and far better range than 9m currently, don’t see where the bad range complaint is coming from?
I hope they quash the issues regarding the AAM-3 as soon as possible, otherwise it’ll be here to stay until we beg and bother Gaijin for about 2~3 years until they decide to change it.
On that note… AAM-3 would be nice if it came to the F-4EJ Kai, to further supplement its historical loadout (although I havent given much thought on how it would sit in BR if it got it)
Checked its range performance in Dev server and it looks better than AIM-9M in range.
Test conditions:
Range 5km. Speed 900km/h. Target - MiG-15 from test flight.
Results: AAM-3 hitted the target and AIM-9M lost all energy and missed.
So it is really better than AIM-9M.

Did they fix the wing rip? I could sustain 11/12 G pulls with or without fuel tanks and still didn’t rip.
