The issue is that when someone has 8 AIM-120B, you can have 4 AAM-4 and 4 AIM-120B, so Gaijin now has to balance it by giving it disadvantages.
Issue is while we can prove things are wrong, we can’t prove how things would be right (at least not enough for Gaijin), so bug reports are denied. Meaning even when better missiles are added, AAM-4 could be stuck like this. Which is why it shouldn’t have been added yet at all.
The moderators denied it, but JASDF actually compared AAM-4 and AIM-120B and adopted AAM-4.
Since they are comparing them, they should be doing so under the same conditions. According to the table, the AAM-4 has the same seeker, but the AAM-4 has a greater standoff range, i.e., the distance between its aircraft and the enemy’s aircraft when the aircraft can disengage after launching a missile.
What could this be other than the reason for the higher speed of the AAM-4 than the AIM-120B?
The Air Self-Defense Force compared the AAM-4 and the aim120B, decided that the AAM-4 was superior, and adopted the AAM-4. The Air Self-Defense Force then told the Ministry of Defense that it would not buy the aim120 because it did not need it.I’m using machine translation, so some English might be different, sorry.
At least AAM-3 “makes sense” in the way that the features missing aren’t in game. We at least have some form of security in knowing that DMM did research for the missile alongside what they did for F-4EJ Kai.
Bank to turn is not a feature in game, there isn’t even a representation of dual plane maneuverability. So all missiles (AAM-3 included) are locked in single plane maneuverability constantly. With BTT steering AAM-3 will easily be among the most maneuverable non thrust vectoring missiles and even beat some earlier TVC missiles similar to what the Python 4 does.
Gaijin has stated there are for balance reasons no dual channel IR/UV air to air missiles, leaving it to ground and helicopter launched MANPADS only. This is what the seeker of the AAM-3 will be once they officially “add the feature” for air to air missiles.
That is, unless they completely forget about AAM-3 once they do, or just don’t add these at all. Especially BTT is scarily easy for them to just skip completely.
i mean i definetly feel its an improvement over the one for the F-15J but its also not as on fire as some of the other agressor squadron liverries
But yeah beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Hello, I was wondering why the F-15J Kai is called the F-15J(M) in game. I thought that it would have been called F-15J Kai, despite not being “official,” as the F-15MJ/F-15J (J-MSIP) would have been the “late” version of the Kai.
To be honest, I haven’t read about the F-15J in a while and assumed that the only versions were the base, the Kai, and the MTDP (Mid Term Defense Program). My first thought was that they got lazy and went “M = Modernizirovannyy (“Modernised”)” and named it according to the Russian scheme. I was unaware that they are now called “MSIP” aircraft, which I suppose makes sense, but I still think that Kai should be used to refer to the version in game and J-MSIP, MJ, or MTDP should be used to refer to a (likely) later version with (unnerfed) AAM-4s and AAM-5s.
In any case, F-15J(M) just looks incorrect to me. Is that how it’s supposed to be?
The f15jm is beyond msip, and is a mtdp model. Due to having hms, according to wreckingares, this puts it in the second stage of mtdp, which also makes it qualified to receive later missiles like a f16c.
There’s certain elements visually modeled such as ecm, and maws, although they aren’t a feature for us to exploit.
There’s also the bug report made by wreckingares, which got the name change as well, although I don’t have any pictures of its name beside some sheet that likes to abbreviate names
So is the one in game an F-15JM/MJ/whatever it’s called? And is the unofficial “Kai” a version from the early 2000s or the late 2000s? Would that put it in 2015 F-16C range or like… 2000 F-15C MSIP II range?
I’m aware that it was “fictional” but my understanding was that it was unofficial, yet commonplace enough to be used to differentiate. In the same way as something like the M10 GMC being called Wolverine, or P-51D-30 instead of F-51D-30.
But still, my question is I suppose which modernized variant of the F-15J is this one specifically? The first MSIP from the early 2000s that could use AMRAAMs and AAM-4s or the later MSIP that has a new radar and also can use AAM-5 and AAM-4B? In essence, is this the last F-15J or a stepping stone to the last one?
Ah, thank you. Its very confusing when there’s modernizations and no name change lol. I guess this would be, for now, the penultimate F-15J. I hope that if/when they add the stuff like AIM-120C-5, AAM-4B, R-77-1, and stuff like that, they don’t just move this one up but also add an in-between version as well. I feel like if they ever decompress BRs the existence of the very powerful ARH missiles will leave a gap practically everywhere.
