Mitsubishi F-1

maybe because the current missile have basically close to no purpose in the game right now?
apart custom or AI boats, there is no Naval for aircraft of such BR,…

i would get as many ASM missiles for the game as possible,… but yet many still don’t have at least one carrier in the game - Japan have 2, making it the best equipped nation with ASM missile type. (both F-2A and F-2A ADTW)

the game is slow on the Naval Size,… and i still think about how their going to transition from Heavy BB’s to Missiles Frigates/Destroyers/Cruisers - then modern ships including VLS,…

if there was no purpose then why add it to the F-2 in the first place? F-1 was intended to carry ASM-1 from the very begining(irl of course) and it will give the F-1 something different to do than having to go to the dogfight and launch 4 AAM then die, nobody goes for the ships in the falklands map thats an opportunity to get some points on your flareless plane, I don’t care about naval(no offense) I want something else than knife fighting with AAM or racing to bomb bases before the premium plane drops napalm on them

Could the F-1 even use the ASM-1s as they are implemented in the game currently? (I get it 100% can IRL) But the ASM-1 currently requires target queuing from the F-2s radar, it cannot be launched other wise, so is that unrealistic? Or is the F-1 (and F-4EJ Kai) missing ground/sea track from their radars?

I think yeah it should be able to launch them like they are already in game

I went to the japanese wikipedia(I know is not a reliable source but it does contain more info than the English one) and it mentions: “J/AWA-1 対艦ミサイル管制装置(ASM-1対応)”

And literally right afterwards it says:

I know that is still wikipedia but sometimes it does contain a fairly bit more info depending on the language

Yes it can. F-1 just missing ship search radar mode same as F-4EJ Kai.

Same thing could be said about every “FnF” ASM missile carriers:

  • Super-Etendards / Mirage 2000-5’s with AM.39 B1 Exocet
  • Rafale with AM.39 B2 Exocet
  • F/A-18C + F-111C + F-16C blk50/52 with AGM-84 Harpoon
  • Blackburn Bucanneer with AS.37 TV Martel
  • F-104G with AS.34 Kormoran (which is an existing missile in game, but only adapted to the Event Tornado)
  • Israelians F-4 / A-4 and Kfir “C-2” with the Gabriel III A/S
  • Taiwanese F-CK-1 C/D models with HF-2 missile
  • Indians Sea Harrier FRS and Jaguar IM / Saudi Tornadoes GR1B with Sea Eagle (currently in-game with the Hawk 200 and Hawk 200 RDA)

Or sweden:
RB 04 for A-32 ; AJ-37 ; AJS-37 aircrafts
RBS-15F Mk I for AJ-37 ; AJS-37 ; Gripen A/C/E

and there is certainly some others that i didn’t talked about yet,…

but in-game, all we have is:
Tornado IDS MFG - with 4x MBB AS.34 Kormoran - Germany
Hawk 200 and Hawk 200 RDA - with 3x MBDA Sea Eagle - UK
F-2A and F-2A ADTW - with 6x ASM-1(Type 80) or 6x ASM-2(Type-93) - Japan

1 of which is Event vehicule
1 of which is Premium vehicule

Why would Mitsubishi F-1 be a priority at this point?

and that:

is true to many aircrafts in the list i gave you:
Super-Etendards
Gripens
AJ-37
AJS-37

so it’s not an valuable argue,…

finally about that:

it’s a game design problem,…
but Mitsubishi F-1 does hold enough bombs to sink destroyers, so you can still use it for sinking boats.
(i did it recently with thailand A-7E and Mk81 bombs)

Because the missile, plane and radar are all in game and all they need to do is copy in the missing “sea track” mode and add ASM-1 to the load out.
Better question is why should it not get ASM-1 when everything needed for it to use it is already in game?

And it’s not like ASM-1 has any major balance issues that need to be considered, adding them will not turn it into an OP CAS monster or anything.

same could be said for many aircrafts

the Super-Etendard had the AM.39 modelled for the trailers, but never recieved it once in game - all is present, all can be given to 3 frenchs aircrafts.

similar goes for german F-104G and AS.34

the reason why it’s not given yet, is because there is low interest for aircrafts today, as there is no Naval gamemodes at such BR’s

another reason why it’s useless is because the Mitsubishi F-1 would carry only 2x ASM-1 or 2x ASM-2

but in-game, by testing over 15 USS Mitscher sunk by ASM-1 with F-2A:
it requires 3 to 4 ASM-1 to kill one destroyer in average.

so it would be quite useless

that’s not the same, the exocet isn’t in game, the ASM-1 is, with functionality also being coded in, the exocet was only in a moments of valor video as a model.

meaning that the 3D model currently exists within the files of Gaijin.

why would you only do the 3D model, if there is no plan to integrate it?

it’s also present within datamine files - with a full and comprehensive flightmodel - (note that Gaijin misnamed the file as MM-38, which is the earliest variant of the missile based on naval units, but the maximum range speed and other values are correctly given from AM.39 ones)

Source of datamine by Gzasbi :

so it’s actually full-ready for implementation as well - nothing else to add in the game than radar mode for aircrafts that used such missiles (same as Mitsubishi F-1)

which bring us back to the previous question:
why gaijin didn’t add them as soon as available?

similarly to what i’ve said for the ASM-1/ASM-2 missiles (requiring a high number of missile to make it effective)

the AM.39 Exocet was used IRL :
Falkland wars : argentinian Super-Etendards fired several Exocets, but no ships sunked from the attack single handedly.
the only ship that sunked in this war was the Destroyer HMS Sheffield - the 4th of May 1982, it got hit and disabled from a single AM.39, but sunk while being towed back to England during a tempest, the 10th of May 1982

Iran-Irak war : in 1987, the USS Stark frigate was attacked and hit by 2 AM.39, but never sunk from that attack.
it reached Bahrein then Mayport (USA), where it got repaired, and returned in service in 1990 until it got demolished in 1999.

So both missiles are not powerful enough to make a difference with small number of missile.
This explains why either the Type 80 ; Type 93 or the AM.39 are not integrated onto aircraft using a low amount of those, yet in-game.

the 1st aircraft having such missile was the Tornado IDS MFG, and add 2x AS.34 kormoran, but those proved inefficient for sinking ships.

a little information on ASM Explosive payloads for such similar missiles:
AM.39 : 80kg of Composition B
Type 80 : 70.5 kg of PBXN-3
Type 93 : 70.5kg of PBXN-3
AS.34 : 56 kg of Composition B
Sea Eagle : 100kg of RDX/TNT
AGM-84 : 97.5 kg of Destex
RBS-15 : 200kg (No info on explosive type)

In real life, the ASM-1 missile is more effective than in the game.

well in-real sunked Frigates, not destroyers,…

IRL testing of ASM-1 (Type-80)
Tacoma class - Frigate: 1430tons (light load) to 2415 tons (fully armed) - 92.3m long

In-game testing i’ve done:
USS Mitscher - Destroyer : 4,855 t - 150m long

in the meantime, you can test fire on Frigate type ships, and you can destroy them with a single ASM-1 95% of the time

so the Current ASM-1/ASM-2 are actually doing realistic damage.
