"missile evaded"

Flying some ARB since the update dropped and keep having a popup saying “missile evaded”. Few questions:

  1. what does it mean by evaded? Lost lock or missile detonated or what?
  2. did anyone want this feature? It just seems like some baby training wheels for wallet warriors and completely unnecessary
  3. can I turn it off? It’s frankly more annoying and distracting than actually useful- I can already see when a missile is multipathing or has gone for flares, I don’t need something flashing into the middle of my screen every few seconds

Just let the new message that briefly pops up on your screen stay it’s not a big deal! It’s there to help, especially for newer players who might struggle to learn things. Similar changes have been made for other mechanics in the game, and this is no different.

Over time, you’ll barely notice it, just like with other updates that made things easier in both ground and air battles. Some of those changes probably ended up being pretty helpful, right? A small notification like this won’t affect your ability to dodge missiles using tactical maneuvers or impact your gameplay in any major way.

You’ll still get hit by a missile just like before, the message doesn’t make you gain or lose skill. :)

Yes, very annoying spam message.

It’s absolutely for wallet warriors with no clue how to play.

It’s a truly dumbed down feature that should only be present in AAB in my opinion.

if u are complaining abou it in ARB imagine who is geting crazy it this in Sim mode, you get excited waiting for the update to get some fun but what you get most is annoyance with useless changes that no one asked them to make, tiring

Do you guys really expect a score for this? I was thinking this was a meme lol

It does not belong in air sim.

You want realism in a game mode where you :

  • start the engine with one key,
  • fly and attack simultaneously without delay
  • don’t need to identify yourself to land at an airfield
  • and take no damage from G-forces over 9G?

Just stop complaining and play the game.

No.

Keep it in air arcade, maybe air realistic.

Don’t arcadify sim.

Because realism is either 100% realistic where you might as well be enlisted, or fornite.

You complain about trivial things. Please, focus on issues that actually affect the community, not on something that helps both new players and veterans know when to return to the battlefield while running away from an AIM-120B.

OK, let’s add a warning to my F4U that tells me there’s a plane behind me.

Also it should tell me when the plane is no longer behind me.

Why would I even need those mirrors or look around, I need to be informed when to return to the battlefield after running away from a guy chasing me across the map while I’m too damaged to fight back.

False dilemma fallacy. It’s confusing to even understand how you believe your own point.

Flagged?

War Thunder is getting more and more simpler every update. We are experiencing multiple changes, each update, that take away important aspects of the game; lower the skill floor and the skill ceiling. For example, the disabling of multipathing for SAMs, taking away of the ability to switch between radar lock modes in aircraft (replaced with automatic switching), addition of radar altimeter to ALL aircraft (including aircraft that did not have it in real life), constant tooltips reminding you to do this or that, etc.

My theory on the reason behind such changes, is that Gaijin is pandering to a specific subset of players. Specifically new and unskilled players buying high-rank premiums.
In the end, it is all for money. But I have seen many games become irrationally greedy, becoming bland and dropping in popularity. I sincerely hope War Thunder will not go down such a path.
I agree that there is no need for this indicator, especially in realistic and simulator modes. As invested as you are in this future.

it wasn’t realistic. now it requires more skill from pilots to evade sams

That is a good change. Helicopters have had it since forever, and there isn’t any downside to adding it.

Would you want British or American aircraft to only show the altitude in feet in the UI? Or what about WWII German or Soviet planes being forced to only show metres in the UI.

Agreed.

Yes, actually I would

That is quality of life, not gameplay. Removing that is just dumb
