theres almost nothing you can do in a 1v1 against this plane why are they same br he out BVRs with a better missiles and better FM so he can actually dodge the missile but you cant as your F4 with no agile eagle like what can you do yeah all you really have over him is a better loadout but worse quality you cant even play atltiude as you cant dodge his missiles
the AIM-7D lacks performance in range and speed to deal with it as it only pulls 15G and takes for ever to do so id honestly say it be better for it to get AIM-7Es not E2s the E model would be a good buff to keep it at its BR
On a more serious note, yes this is unfair, but the Mirage IIIC cannot go up and I doubt the F-4C can go down (I haven’t played it so I don’t really know). It’s all compression here
no as a 8.7 would get screwed by it i think just updating its weapons to be slightly better with AIM-7E model of sparrow would be the best option as the E model doesnt pull of the rail but is able to do 20G pulls after a mile or so
25G > 15G
I guess that would make sense. I gotta admit as a Mirage IIIC player I only see this thing as food, heck even with my Super Mystère I ate them for lunch.
This plane is kinda sad, and this is compression for a good part
To be honest, in a 1v1, I’d prefer the F-4C in most situations. The Mirage is very good, and I won’t deny that, but it’s very situational.
In a head-on approch with some distance, the AIM-7D is far superior to the R530 and greatly facilitates radar engagement. Radar performance are similar for both plane. + the Mirage don’t have a RWR
In a dogfight, the Mirage will have the advantage if it’s behind the F-4 because the Magic missile is excellent, but otherwise, the aircraft can’t sustain a gunnery dogfight. It will hold the first two or three turns, but it doesn’t have the F-4’s energy retention and power for acceleration.
The Mirage 3 does not have RWR, and although the R530 is a 25G missile, it only reaches Mach 2.7 compared to Mach 4 for the AIM-7.
Having used both, I find the R530 good when you have the element of surprise on your side; otherwise, it’s easily dodged. As for the AIM-7, I find it more reliable for shots at targets that are aware you’re approaching, since it’s faster.
the F4C is significantly less manuverable than literally everything it fights yeah you can turn for multiple turns but in comparison you cannot pull more than 7-8G of turn the mirage IIIC was 10.3 for a reason back in the day
RWR is not required to dodge a AIM-7D as you can just roll it when you see its missile trail its same pull as the AIM-7C
ive seen it get dodge by just doing a u turn with in 5 miles
the only difference between it and the AIM-7C is that it has longer guidance and upgraded motor other than that its the same missile as the 9.0
while a mirage can dodge a AIM-7D its far easier to in the mirage than the F4C as above mach 1 in the F4 you cannot out manuver a 10g missile
the only real advantage i can find on the AIM-7D is speed and CW seeker which almost make no difference due to the radar being dog water
It is less maneuverable than the Mirage 3C on the first three turns, but if you make the Mirage 3 climb a little in the dogfight it will just fall after a few moments while the F-4C will be able to maintain some maneuverability.
For an R530, it’s pretty much the same thing; if you turn slightly, you can easily dodge it, the missile guides a little better, but if you position yourself perpendicular to the Mirage, the radar will simply lose track.
Anyway, we’re comparing two aircraft that weren’t designed for the same role. The Mirage III is an interceptor, while the F-4C is designed to be multirole, so it’s normal that they have different performance levels. The fact that they have the same battle rating doesn’t bother me that much. While the Mirage will certainly dominate in certain areas of air combat, the F-4C will also be able to perform ground attack missions that the Mirage can’t.
this is only for later version the F4C Is a purpose built interceptor that was its main purpose
its like saying the F14A isnt a fleet interceptor because the B model could carry GBUs
It may have been designed as an interceptor, but it’s also a bomb truck, and that’s how most people play it
but which has an effect on how gaijin balances its vehicles
Maybe, but would you be willing to play it if it went up in Battle Rating? If you upgrade the plane to 10.7 or 11.0, it becomes practically unplayable because it will only face much stronger planes. Apart from completely unzipping the 10.0-10.3 on 2 points of Br, I don’t see how you could change much.
As Aydan rightly said at the beginning, the F-4C cannot go down in br and the Mirage IIIC cannot go up much (it could go th 10.3 but not really higher) given the current compression.
Yes for your poll. The radar is sraight out of 1960s, therefore cannot lock on at anything before 10 kms. And what you fire under 5kms are useless as early AIM-7s have guidance delay.
So we always come back to the same problem: decompression.
Regarding the Mirage III’s descent into Br, (normally) aircraft descend for a reason, whether it’s a request from the players or because they aren’t performing well enough. Now, if the aircraft is performing too well currently, it can climb back up to its former Br.
