Finally, a welcoming buff for the Magic 2.
Just after the end of the burning time, the missile was like air braking mid, slowing down way too fast. If it fix this issue, then it’s nice buff which is comming.

All system have been like this since the cloud change

Clouds and fog affect the locking ranges. And it’s still very finicky. Sometimes you can be in the clouds and still ba able to lock targets. Over times you are in clear skies but can’t lock for some reason. Check again, but you’ll probably see all the games where you have issues locking are games where there are clouds at or around your altitude. Its almost like there’s a desync between where you see the clouds and where the servers see the clouds to allow you to lock targets

From the range table on the datamine about the MAGIC 2, it get in average a 15% upgrade in range (at least between 1000M and 5000m)

The range_max_dogfight is apparently about the NEZ of the missile.
Will have to ask MIG_23 for more details.

Most missiles exceed their range table charts and the dogfight is more or less the max range for a maneuvering target.

What’s interesting is that the Magic 2’s range table is very close now to the current R-73’s range table (although R-73 is getting a drag reduction).

Honestly the guidance delay for me is not much of an issue, as we can pre aim the missile especially with the HMD. The fuse arm time however needs to go. Or the one of the aim9s should be put to the same value as the Magic 2. It still does not make sense that with a source stating both missiles have the same fuse delay, one is basically instant while the other takes more than a second. to arm

The AIM-9 series is going to 1.8s, the magic 2s should be reduced to at least 1.2s imo.

If it’s 2.31.1.37 or higher… yes.

Excited to try them out later today, the short range was my main issue with the Magics

I just tried the Magic 2 in test flight and I hit that MiG-15 from 3km from behind, and my air speed was around 600 km/h. I’ll try it in some live games later but it feels like a huge improvement

Yep the buff is so good. Ive shot a supersonic mig29 from 2.5km from the back without any issue. During the burn, its pretty much unchanged, but after the burn they keep so much more energy

I read on this thread a while back that the RDY is capable of All-Aspect TWS, is there a report in for this? Something to look forward to?
