In regards to BVR combat, the avionics and ordnance is fantastic. When the Magic 2’s are considered it is extremely handheld.
Without all of this - the aircraft is mid at best. It is not beating your average 4th generation fighter jet (Tornado doesn’t count), and it certainly isn’t excelling in any particular metric. It has perhaps maybe one advantage against any given opponent depending on what it is fighting…
In fact, I think your statement applies better to aircraft like the F-14, which are truly difficult to handle but very rewarding when done correctly. With the M2K this is not the case. The Mirage 2000 is almost impossible to stall, flatspin, etc. It is simply pull on the stick until target is in HUD and fire. There is no better way to play it. Keep it one circle, try to end the fight before you run out of altitude. It is a very defensive plane in any long-term engagement. Either end it immediately, or risk death.
The aircraft that I had the highest winrate in (Mirage 4000), I flew before ARH missiles were really prevalent in the game so the performance there can be omitted from the discussion. The Mirage 2000-5F I found to be less than satisfactory to fly as opposed to something like the Gripen, MiG-29, or the J-10. I found the F-16, F-15, Su-27 all to be slightly better as well.
J-10 is very easy to handle with mouse control, similar to the Gripen, and very powerful with sim control, as you can intentionally spin the aircraft to overshoot the enemy.
Gripen uses its own special HMD and the US planes use the JHMCS, i put in a bug report to try and get the DASH/D-JHMCS to the israeli planes. i really hope they add specific pilot models with HMD.

Agree, it’s a very defensive fighter aircraft, it is good when your team are also good, when your team are losing even in the early match, you wouldn’t get a chance to turn the tide of the match unless the enemy teams are also full of idiots. I got a winrate over 60% and total of 2000 victories combined from the C-S5 and -5F. During the IRCCM Meta, Mirage 2000 stands at worst position since the Magic 2 haven’t been buffed. During the Fox 3 Meta, Mirage 2000 now stands at okay-ish, Magic 2 is great (although still not fully buffed, the fuze delay are still there), MICA are also great (as long not in long range), but with the 16v16 meta, your victory really depends on the others player who are paying attention, because obviously, you wouldn’t want to go fully offensive in the early game with Mirage 2000 unless you know you had a chance.
I do not know how objectively true it is since the average player isn’t DEFYN but the only thing holding M2K back in ARB is the amount of missiles or the range of it’s radar guided missiles.
You can face everything that isn’t a J-10 or Gripen in a dogfight while both of those are a bit dodgy in performance where M2K seems to have to much energy retention.
there might be a bug with M2KD-R1 and CLDP pod, currently, atleast for me, i can switch between gen 1 and gen 2 thermals for no reason, when i tried it on the AMX (has CLDP aswell) it didnt do that.
I only have the Dutch F16A and the mirages. I have to say I don’t completely agree with this statement.
The Mirage 2000 is far better than the mig29, su27, and still better than the f15 in my opinion.
Against the first 2, the Mirage 2000 can still energy trap them if you are careful not to drop your speed to much. For the F15, you can quite easily get behind its back and stay there forever.
I haven’t had the chance to dogfight J10 to much, so I won’t comment on that, although I believe it loses it’s energy faster than the Mirage. The f16 (at leats the A) and gripen are indeed better FM wise than the mirage 2000.
All in all, while I preferred the older FM which was easier to use, I don’t think the new FM made it worse than other 4th gen. Just, way more difficult to master. After I got the hang of micromanaging my inputs to keep my speed above 600kph, I got much better at fighting those planes that the legacy FM could beat easily (f15, mig29 and co).
I do prefer the FM of the 4000 however, but sadly its kit is very lacking for the BR
from my experience, it goes:
F15A>Gripen/F16A>J10>M2K/M4K>F15C>Mig29A>F16C>Su27>Su34(probably)>Mig29SMT>F15E(probably)>F16D
setup i have in mind is min fuel, no missiles, RB
ofc if we just change the setup a little bit, stuff switches around.
i also only own most of those, but not all, i have f15’s, F16A Blk.10 and 15, m2k’s, m4k, 29A, 16C, 16D
and it comes to pilot aswell, i have beaten some poor M2K C’s with hungarian 29A before, and i have beaten some mig 29’s with 16D before aswell, sometimes a guy just has a skill issue, or you are just in a better position.
In this setup I agree with most, except that I’d put the Mirage 4000 with the F15A. But in 99% of the time in game, you’ll have American jets with a lot more fuel than let’s say the Mirage, due to their very high fuel consumption, so the F15A would go down in the rank behind te M2K but before the mig29. Same for the C, it would go down behind the f16c
J10 is actually better than Mirage2000 in dogfight, energy loss is kinda similiar while it has much stronger engine and active canards that gives edge in low speed dogfights, its basically Gripen V2 but i think its slightly better than Gripen.
If both pilots has same skill level then J10 will most likely win against Mirage.
Realistically speaking, the J-10 is probs about the closest thing to a Rafale FM out there. They have relatively similar TWR’s, wing loadings, climb rates, and lifting body + control surface layouts.
Im genuinly suprised this hasnt been brought up before tbh, and the fact that ppl call it “Temu Eurofighter” when its much more of a “Temu Rafale”…
They call Temu EFT due to how looks similiar to EFT, but if you believe J-10’s performance actually represents Rafale then it will be hell of a nice to fly with that beauty when it arrives.
My own guess is that there are several external features that make J-10 (mainly after 10B) look like it was made with Rafale in mind.

And when the current earliest Rafale (M standard F.1) could be integrated now in game since it never had anything but AAM that are all already in game (Magic-2//MICA-IR)
