I think you’re overlooking the capability of these missiles a bit, the R73s that are currently in the game (on the lower Br because it is on board the Su25) are pretty easy to avoid because their launch platform is pretty slow so the missiles can’t reach their full potential, for planes like the 2000D and the Tornado, the missiles will be able to reach their full range and will be really powerful, Furthermore, we must not forget that these missiles have IRCCMs which are starting to be surprising, making them practically impossible to dodge. I don’t see how the addition of these missiles wouldn’t mean the important increase in Br of the planes that carry them.
The only way (in my opinion) for the addition of the Mica IR currently would be to remove or reduce a good part of its capabilities:
Removal of the LOAL
Reduction of its firing envelope (in connection with the LOAL)
Removal of guidance via DataLink for long distance firing
Reduction of the effectiveness of the IRCCM
Limitation of the range
And if there was really a need for a more capable air-to-air missile for the 2000D today, the easiest solution would be to have a realistic Magic II
Youre completely ignoring that the irccm of the r27et makes it barely more effective than a regular all aspect missiles specially at 9km, also the r27et does not have a trust vectoring so it quite comical that you try to claim that it would be balanced when you are asking for a missiles with better maneuverability than the r73 with the range of the r27et and with a better irccm than the two of them… yes it is balanced…
For those who are interested, here is a table grouping the different weapons usable by the Mirage 2000D RMV, if ever there are some things missing, let me know so I can update it
And an F-15E can easily kinematically defeat them, or just snipe the Mirage using the 4 Aim120s underslung and then go and bomb the bases. the new longer range IR missiles like ASRAAM and MICA will not perform like in the real world, look at the magic 2.
On this topic, just want to mention that not all TV/IR FnF missile can switch from point to track. For exemple the current live PGM cannot switch, while the AGM65 and the Russian equivalent whose name I forgot can.
All in all I agree with AASM being OP, but with the way the dev is going, and British reports, the PGM might actually out range the AASM itself soonish, with up to 100km or range as I’ve heard
Still that wouldnt make the missile balanced as ir missiles does not suffers the disadvantages of the fox 3, the missiles would be completely broken and will outperfom any current ir missile by a long shot, the magic 2 at 12.7 is more than enough specially when the missiles still have room to grow, so unless it has a shitty irccm like on the r27et it wouldnt be balanced,
This kind of stuff definitely is outside of the public knowledge. We can only assume that if nothing about it is mentioned, then the RWR is the same as the other D variants, which is I believe the same as the 5F. As mentioned above, those RWR are numeric so they can be reprogrammed to add new threats to its data base
The « issue » is that as of now, the RWR of the RMV is the same as the other mirages, so they would need to buff them all. But I agree that this nerf is quite non sensical since the data base is upgradable.
The mirage 2000-5F and RMV, but also the D-R1 have all flown far after the Pantsir entered service (with the -5F and RMV still flying today) so it makes no sense they can’t identify it
Huh, I wonder what makes them different, since I was sure the PGM could as well.
Either way though, the PGM being buffed would just end up sticking it in the same category of (problematic) “standoff weapons”. By all metrics, its just poor game design to allow aircrafts to have weapons for which ground players have literally no way of fighting.
I feel like thats the sticking point some people dont understand about my stance. My issue isnt with the AASM itself, or in the russian threads, the Kh-38M’s, its with standoff weapons in GFRB as a whole. I dont mind these weapons being in-game, but them being used against players directly is only fun for the player launching them. If you want that kind of experience, doing so vs AI targets is effectively the same, except you arent ruining other players’ gameplay experience.
Everyone seems to want these weapons for their own nation but take offense to the idea of other nations having similar classes of weapons. Its a massive double standard imo.
Now hope they make this work on ground targets and give double bomb racks for wings and RMV might not even require AASM no more to be strong and reliable
Gaijin finally buff M2K5F countermeasure size! This is a nice addition. Thanks @WaretaGarasu for bumping it up, eventhough I haven’t heard of how M4K countermesure buff going.
Yeah, sadly there will be no chance of actual unique pilot for each country (despite Sweden and Japan had it). I’m not surprised though, because in before, we already had a Phantom Pilot in Mirage 2000 lol.
It works, Antilope have some issues getting locks on standing targets it seems. Probably a report on the radar would be appreciated but I am trying to find references.
Every Mirage 2000 Series CM are corrected now. About Mirage 4000 the report has been bumped.
