This still expands the ability for the SMT to notch over other top tiers. It will likely be king of BVR for some time still.
Others with lower gimbal ranges will be forced to enter the MAR far sooner.
I can’t say much about the ground since I don’t play ground either. My greatest guess is the Leclerc have more classified info than the Mirage 2000? Just like how Challenger 2 has its problem.
Problem is gimbal limit below the nose, only 45° so it takes ages to get target to the full 170-180° width of your radar. So you have to rudder half the way there. Currently, turning past gimbal limit will ruin tracking of Fox 3 missiles
(credit to simplysinful who found this and recreated it), had to compress video to fit it here but you can clearly see what’s happening with the missile track. Currently happens in both TWS and hard lock.
@Gunjob Could you look into this maybe? I assume it’s not intentional.

Ideal would be they change the caliber at the begining of dev servers and you can test them and compare them to some charts if you have some.

I always assumed this was a thing but never had the tools to check until tacview was added. Glad to know I was right.
I always taught friends to switch off from TWS when breaking off from firing AIM-54’s because pulling while in TWS would trash the missiles lock and send it in the complete wrong direction.

What if they move the tech tree Mirage F1C to 10.7 but removed the magic 2?
You could actually do BVR with the Super 530F at 10.7 but with only magic 1 it wouldn’t crush everything in dogfights and its not changing people’s 70$ premium.

Yeah good luck with that whale that is called SMT against F-15,Gripen,F-16 and Mirage 2K.
That thing can barely stay at air after notching.
I haven’t had any real issues fighting the average pilot with the SMT even in end-game when F-16As are flying around with ~5 mins fuel and I’ve got ~15-20
This was a good example, the pilots I was fighting had better stats than me too… so yeah…
The extra weight is pretty heavily over-exaggerated
Yea i can show dozens of game where i achieved more then 5 kills with SMT, but this not change the fact that on equal skill level SMT will loose every single time.

That’s not necessarily true, only if it ends in a merge. The SMT is superior to the F-16C in BVR for the reasons mentioned before. It will continue to perform well in RB in spite of the nonsense about it being a brick. At equal fuel amounts the SMT is only ~1 deg/s sustained worse than earlier MiG-29 variant and yet has a massively better radar & the R-73, R-27ET, etc.
And besides, the MICA is going to dominate most things, not just the SMT when it comes to visual range.

Not exactly, the issues of Leclerc’s mobility and protection enhancement come from the public test data when it participated in the tank bidding of other countries.
Specifically, Sweden’s tests. Greek and later tests of Leclerc have been ignored, most of the time.
