Its not any more advanced than Kh-38M; at least the IIR and GPS guided variants would be limited by ground render distance, same as Kh-38MT and AGM-65H. The Laser variant can be launched from further out the render distance (like Kh-38ML atm), but I am expecting it to come only with Rafale F.3R / F.4 tbh.
- The AASM’s trajectory optimizes it so it goes above the angle of the SPAA’s elevation coverage of their missiles and gun. See picture below. This makes it nearly impossible for SPAAs to shoot them down.
- The gimbal of the AASM is much higher (90±) and so is it’s maneuverability. This means you’re allowed to fly sideways to an SPAA, and fire it off to the side of you, before making maneuvers. Kh-38 can’t do this at the moment.
- Kh-38 requires direct line of sight. AASM IIR, because it has GPS and INS, you can lock a target from high up, dive and hide behind a mountain, then while behind the mountain, you can fire the AASM behind cover completely hidden. After launch, it’ll loft and travel to the location it remembered.
- AASM has air-burst so it’s much more convenient and useable against helicopters.
So AASM is quite a bit more advanced than Kh-38.
looks fine to me
Deleting Pantsirs and tanks completely from behind cover at 20km+ away, nothing wrong with that.
none at all
at this point i dont know if it will ever be in the game
Nothing I don’t already know (and you know that) - But still, I doubt that Gaijin will realistically model the AASM and similar, at least not in the foreseeable future.
It deservs it )))
I have faith it’ll come, I just think it would be more interesting to use AASM against more advanced SPAAs, even though I expect them to still lose the fight.
Fair enough, like pretty much everything else.
))))))
Kh-38M is gimped in its abilities and so would AASM be. Would be just same dumb fire-forget like old AGM-65.
Ik and as mentioned later;
In what aspect is it gimped?
Lack of satnav, 40 km range instead of 70.
Reported?
Did I show the schedule for whom?
In short not a bug.
Not a bug. In game “early” Kh-38, what not entired in production…
We already have better KH-38MT and ML with IOG, IR and Laser guidance. You can already fire KH-38MT at 20 KM from almost sideways (almost notch)
Because KH-38MT has way higher gimbal then the build nose camera on Su-25’s nose.
And apprently the Real Range of this crap should be arround 70km not 40 but anyway it’s already enough to obliterate any AA that is not a Pantsir so… AASM would only benfit from the “I go where i can’t be hit”. Anything else, the KH38 already has it almost.
the only problem with this photo is that I have no idea what type of GBU it could be, the nose looks like a Paveway III, but the bomb body is too small to match the different variants of Paveway III, or it could be a GBU-22 but I can’t find any source showing its entry into service on French planes
