We were talking about F-18C that could be rather threatened by a F-5 with AIM-120.
I was angling to take the whole Br range M2K-5 finds itself in into consideration.
And since it is struggling there placing it at 13.7 is the topic at hand.
M2K-5 is not broken 13.7 or even 13.3.
sure but the other dude either stays at range and cant threaten you, or he has to come close to you to secure kill.
if he keeps spamming his missiles at range but never closing in he will eventually run out of missiles and will have to RTB, loosing any positioning he gained beforehand.
if he comes closer, it is entirely possible to close the distance and start engaging him at the furthest boundary of MICA effective range.
yeah because people learned not to come closer.
i dont think theres 12.3 plane you could fly and beat M2K-5 piloted by someone competent with.
how does enjoying two planes at 13.3 translate to arguing for entirely different plane to go down to 13.3?
Will it? It doesnt matter if ARH missile is launched at 30 or at 10 or even 5km, as long as the target stays in the notch, none of them will hit.
Attacking plane either needs to force the target out of the notch somehow, or get close enough to use IR, but by that time target will enter effective range of MICA.
Then that was extremely weirdly worded. Nothing would change for current 13.3s, they can see M2K-5 already.
But these arent the issue are they? Issue are 12.7s which are all SARH carriers (not counting F-14A for now) which would now be able to see MICA.
So everbody stays in the notch and no one dies?
Distance, angles and closere will be changing and the defender will get hit if he doesn’t manage to turn the tables.
Exactly the only problem would be 12.7.
And for a 12.7 it doesn’t matter to much wether it’s AIM-120, R-77, MICA or even Derby.
