Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

I fking hate them whenever I use it on my F-2 ADTW.

Despite having one of the best AESA radar ingame it has less consistent hard Lock than shitty MiG-21’s radar when the target is trying to notch even slightly.

Even my good old Su-33 holds better lock than this piece of shit.

Oh yeah, N001 is stupidly good at holding hard lock, especially VEP version. I also can’t complain about AN/APG-63, it gives me very consistent performance. AN/APG-59 on F-4J is a weird one. It holds lock relatively good, but it seems that it is not great at giving precise guidance to a Sparrow at certain angles which leads to severe oversteering and breaking of the missile seeker itself

Same shit happens on F-2’s radar.

Its like Gaijin coded its hard lock to match early PD radars capabilities while having one of the best TWS mode, quite bs tbh.

Which makes me question whether its accurate or not cause that shit holds better lock than most AESA radar in notching position.

It has quite strong power output iirc. Phased radars got buffed this update iirc, so they should be better at holding the lock in a notch. Technically Phased arrays should have performance drops if the target is at the edge of the scanning area, because not every module will be able to steer its beam at such angle, but i dunno if gaijin modelled something like this.

I wonder…that table. How did you got that? Its some app or something?

no… it’s just regular report in-game.

  • MiG-29S (9-13S) between MiG-29 (9-13) and MiG-29SMT (9-19), or folder with MiG-29SMT (9-19)

  • The Russian Navy MiG-29K (9-31) to rank 8 and MiG-29KR (9-41R) in rank 9

  • None MiG-29M for researchable vehicles

  • Two MiG-35 for rank 9 after MiG-29SMT (9-19) ?

Most reasonable choice, if I had to guess, I will say the MiG-35 might finally release on the anniversary update.

well, i guess Sniper players take all the help that they can get lmao
Actually, only 9.13, 9.19 and 29N sit above 50% winrate right now, everything else dropped almost as low as F-15A. We might get br reduction for those eventually as well

Premium planes statistics are not taken into account by developers (unless this is a positive deviation)

Tech tree versions aren’t doing so hot either, as I said, only 9.13, 9.19 and 29N sit above 50% winrate

Well a large part of why russian radar’s seem so good at holding hard locks through notches is that it will transition to IRST then back to radar the moment they arent perfectly notching. So it’s just extremely consistent within IRST ranges - these auto switches to IRST dont break datalink to the missile either btw (which is why i heavily preference still using hard locks with mech scanned soviet fox3 slingers). Whereas without IRST u will often just drop the lock entirely then have to battle with the radar to pick them back up in time before the missile is effectively trashed - and that’s if it’s even something that can relock like a 7p.

Lmao well yugoslavia aint gonna be coming after u at least

Its outside of our 30 year safety rule (which is now 1995) Source Material: Restrictions on Classified and Export Restricted information (“Military Restrictions”) - #3

However it would be best to confirm that no other subsequent nations adopted and thus consuder this document restricted.

Thanks mate
also if the entire manual is too big for the bug reporting site (300+ pages), should I only give the relevant pages and cover in the bug report, or should I just DM the entire thing to a tech mod or something?

edit*
imma be safe and just not use it

Spoiler

Front page and relevant pages, as well as a list of the page numbers and full name of the source is fine.

But the German one seems the safer bet.

what sort of?

reportable information is only the range and engine perfomance, not IRCCM sensivity or lock range
if it has info about r73 and r27 engine send me it in DM i will supplement the already transmitted reports
