If you mean MiG-29M then no, this is an old Soviet model that never got into mass production, very different. It should have TV channel and laser designator in its IRST tho, but gaijin kinda forgot about that
Yeah it is strange, the latest publication I know of doesn’t list it but there’s one brochure (the one you posted) which does. My guess is that it’s probably just pretty much never used in service (hence us not having any photos of any of them carrying R-27’s) but can potentially be wired for it if the customer so desires like with many other weapons. I’d honestly like to see it receive the R-77-1 (which it has been proven to carry) and move down to 13.3
yeah thats why i never bothered reporting it since it seemed kinda unclear if it could use it or not
Seems there was an internal report already anyway, so I guess we have to wait and see what the developers decide to do
Though even without the R-27 removed, they shouldn’t keep it at 13.7. It needs to go down
made a poll btw
not that i have seen
The 29M and the 29KR can’t be in the same BR when one has the R77-1 and the other the R77, even if it has two more and worse FM, it will be kinda strange
But the usual problem is the poor survivability of the MiG-29s, they have few and weak flares, and their RWR only covers about ±30°. It’s the worst there is compared to other 13.7 and 13.3 aircraft
Btw why should it lose R27 if it has same internals as Mig29M2 which can carry R27 and etc ? (also i have seen that Mig29K 9.41 has 150 ammo for its gun, and not 100)
Some Earlier 9.41s were marketed and shown off with R-27.
If I had to guess, something about weight and drag while trying to take off from a non-CATOBAR carrier, or just structural limitations and cutting back on wing stress.
Whatever it is, there’s definitely some sort of reason why they didn’t pursue the R-27 and just went with the R-77-1/RVV-AE instead. My personal guess is that the MiG-29K has always been intended to carry anti-ship missiles on the inner pylons in most sorties and the need for long range air-to-air missiles to be compatible with said pylons and the increased logistical complexity/training was simply not needed. Especially in the context of the Russian navy, since they already have the Su-33 for that.
Thrust nerf, CM nerf, 2x R-77s and all R-27s removed. Why play this thing at 13.7 over Mig-29M again?
Pretty sure it has a slightly better FM but I’m not sure.
But we might get more CMs soon , since a bug report got passed to add extra CMs from the MiG-29M to the 29K
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the improved fm of the K would let it beat anything that the M can’t now that the engines are being nerfed.
For some reason I was under the impression that the M was 13.3, oops, maybe I was thinking of SMT. I guess K is turning out to be a sidegrade to M and not nearly as exciting as it was upon dev server open. Maybe the Mig-29 will have its day eventually, but after the most recent changes, this one seems like it’s another dud.
Or do a Fiver for some indian dudes to put 8 R77 on their Mig29K… (don’t)
Arent harms much heavier? Max takeoff for Russian Mig29k is listed as 4500kg and 5500kg for indian (maybe due to their carriers being different)
