Thats cool and all but the 23-98 most likely didnt exist outside of a proposal, the plane in every photo you see claiming to be 23-98 is just a normal MLD with different weapons for display at expos.

yeah i agree with this, at least the 21-98 actually existed and had its pesa and kopoyo radar acutally fitted onto it. 23-98 just seems like a proposal that never actually had its radar and stuff fitted on it.

I’m currently grinding out the Soviet Air Tree with Premium MiG-23ML, should I try the MLD or should I skip it instead I make my grind to Su-30SM? I’m curious with how MiG-23MLD does it still fare well ini battle due to having wing slats?
Yes you should the spo-15 is great to have over the spo-10
The MLD also has better flight performance
Just know that the spo-15 can’t detect other mig-23’s

23MLD is pretty much 23ML just with better RWR and (by feels) worse flight performance (not much tho), so Id say go straight for Su-30SM. Unless you want* to have spaded TT MiG-23, then skip the first MiG-23M (it just plainly bad)

Yeah I know it’s due to the SPO-15 can’t detect J Band, but hey a functional RWR is better than almost blind RWR like SPO-10.
Can you elaborate at which part MLD is worser than ML/MLA?
Ofc, MiG-23M is just trash lol, I wouldn’t consider it, MiG-23ML itself already can’t have a sustained dogfight with Phantom anymore.
Again, it just by my feeling alone. Feels like it pulls slightly worse than ML, but it could be also my worse wing angle play (not fully unfolding and keeping at 30 degree during maneuvering fights) or something else (it was a while then I used MiG-23 in earnest outside of occasional GRB CAP)
