I brought MLD to the top a long time ago, but the Germans still have MLA and MF in stock. I clashed with MLD in battles, usually they gain 5 km and use 24P, but there were also cunning guys who crawled through the gardens under the path of our team and threw 24T that no one was expecting)
I would personally use R-24T all the time. Very deadly missiles with which I have most kills (also against the western 4th generation). Master of surprise attacks and ambushes.
Why doesn’t the MiG-23 have radar gun lead? It doesn’t have it in the HUD either without switching HUD modes even tho I doubt that it doesn’t even have a gyro gun sight right?
That’s true, but there’s a problem - the “magic valley” card or whatever it’s called often appears, China, I think, there’s constant cloud cover, and the OLS often doesn’t want to catch the target even at altitude in clear weather. But the missile is interesting - it always arrives quietly when it’s not expected)
Yeah weather is biggest weakness of that missile. Thanks god that Tunisia or Sinai is mostly sunny. :D
I made new visualisation of implementation of MiG-23 variants into TT:
If somebody want know how to make similar TT so here is good editor for that:

Another options:
Honestly throwing the MF is fire (it is not)
That’s true, for comparison I played on MLA, these are two completely different gameplays (
For now I’ll stick with F-16.
the 21I is in game on the Bison MIG-21, it is not a good radar at all
Are the MiG-23 variants able to use the R-3R? I remember reading somewhere that when they exported the MiG-23MS with the downgraded radar they also shipped R-3R because it couldn’t guide R-23R. Could regular MiG-23s (at least the early-ish ones, ~M/MF) use R-3R?
Some pictures of a MiG-23 in Monino with R-3Rs
From here:
No the MiG-23M/MFs never did carry R-3Rs, Wikipedia says that it does but it never did its one of the memes Wikipedia makes about the MiG-23
mig 23 mla after the update is still good very fun plane to play it takes alot of skilll now though the radar not having a maunal switch mode is such a pain which as fari remeber it had so idk
Wikipedia isn’t wrong, the variants mentioned predate the MiG-23M or any other model in the game. None saw service or serial production with those missiles.
So the ones that could carry it, besides prototypes/pre-production, would be the MiG-23S, MiG-23L, and MiG-23MS?
Sidenote, idk if it’s correct but I call the MiG-23 Obr. 1971 the MiG-23L since it was fitted with the Sapfir-23L radar (following MLA with the MLA radar, ML with the ML radar, etc.). I saw it somewhere and it just kind of stuck with me, it seems like a decent name
I don’t think all of those variants included it as a selectable weapon in the FCS. We do not have sufficient information to say exactly which variants carried it in real life or could even fire it. All we know is that it mounted and trialed it but was subsequently never used for real service to my knowledge.
Similarly, there were versions that could mount and fire up to four R-23 missiles. They just never actually saw service.
Yes that is what I meant, from what I’ve heard from the DCS part of the community the MiG-23S was the only that was planned and could select with the FCS the R-3R, while not even the MiG-23MS could do this which I’ve found to be surprising.
Well tbf the MS in MiG-23MS stands for Mega Sh**ter…
But yes the 23MS never used R-3R in service and only ever shipped with R-3S. It was however upgraded to carry R-13M in a few middle eastern countries though i forget which specifically at this moment.
There could probably be a whole book written about the MiG-23MS and how it is one of the larger reasons the Flogger series as a whole gets its very undeserved bad reputation.
