Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 'FLOGGER' - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

The SPO-15LM operates in the 4.4 to 10.3 GHz range, which covers the NATO G, H, I, and a portion of the J bands. This is a significant upgrade from the earlier SPO-15, which had a more limited band coverage, reportedly missing the higher J-band frequencies)

this was the biggest diffrence i could find

So it would actually made MLD being able to detect other Floggers on the enemy team and not randomly combust to a R-24R if you think about flying high? GAIJIN CHANGE IT NOW!

afaik yeah, then they could also give MLD its R-73 and R-24M

Ew no, keep 24M/73 for a “MLD Late” or like, an MLDG.

or jus fix the radar, and the little the engine is missing so on

MLD already is meaningless because ML exists as an equivalent to MLA, giving MLD new stuff and moving it up is a better way to make it unique than leave it as is

it would be peak if they just rebranded MLD into MLDG and put at 12.0-12.3

This is one option. Another option is that we can get MiG-23P instead of MLD and 24M/73 for MLD.

Well ML is premium but we can get MiG-23P in TT. However, it will be a downgrade compared to the ML as anti-ground armament would be limited only to the Kh-23.

R-24RM would not change a thing. It is just a R-24 with different electronics that allow it to engage helicopters better

Reportedly there was also changes in wings.

indeed. should also be better in everything, but not by a lot
got passed sometime ago

No, not true. It had new fins, ECCM, a new seeker with ECM resistance, improved low-altitude performance and slightly improved overload with improved launch boresight. It would be a minor improvement, but a noticeable one.

It is not true and the graphic is bad. If the source of it is where I think its from the book has a ton of other mistakes when you look at the missile graphics

This is again simply false. R-24RM was just different electronics. I know there is a thread on here which says otherwise but it is wrong. R-24RM is just different seekerhead against helicopters, nothing more

Markovsky’s book only describes it as a seekerhead upgrade over standard r-24r

says alot more than seeker there but bleh.
i also have it in russian

I took it from R-24MR thread . Didnt do research of that at all.

Do you have some primary source about R-24MR?

its RM or M. there isnt really any source, very rare missile so rare its never really listed in the weaponry
there is also somethinglike: in the mid 2000,s Ukraine was selling 90 of those missiles, manufactured in 1988-1989, after they had retired their Mig-23,s. saw this somewhere
