in CAS department we have more and more F-15s or Typhoons

kh38mt still the best CAS missile even after new NATO weapons getting added…and its complemented by the pantsir sm-sv that can kill you from spawn in seconds(all SAMs can do this) but the sm-sv can shutdown an airspace…not to mention MI28nm its LMURS…in ground sim you cant fight back against a helicopter

SM2 at least has “sources” hinting on such configuration. By your logic we can just slam AN/APG-83 in MiG-29K.

1. No, they don’t. The “sources” in question (incl. official sources, i.e., the manufacturer of said radar) never name the Irbis, just that the radar’s been improved, and everyone on here immediately reasons it to “well, there’s no other radar set with that capability except Irbis” despite the capability to detect aircraft further away (+compatibility with R-37) could also be achieved by modifying the existing Bars + having a more powerful power plant to go with it.

2. That’s not where the logic was going, at all. Zhuk-AE was at least planned, same way the literal existence of the Yak-141 and everything else that came with it was planned. There are many such examples throughout War Thunder, but that’s the one that comes to mind first

This is a matter of overall aircraft capabilities, please re-read what I posted about Eurofighter. Just having R-77-1 and AESA radar doesn’t mean that it is balanced for 14.3

The Eurofighter isn’t exactly the best example to use, since it is by flight model alone a 14.3 aircraft minimum.

And overall, a MiG-29K with AESA + R-77-1 would be very good for BR 14.3. Not every aircraft needs to be the best or contend with the best to be at a certain BR.

No it isn’t. PoBIT is significantly more capable than MiG-29K both in A2A and A2G. Su-30SM has 10 R-77-1 missiles, better radar than Zhuk-AE, more countermeasures and comparable flight performance (will probably beat MiG-29K once engine thrust will be corrected). Saying that both are equal in power and belong at the same br is laughable

1. It very much is. Any aircraft with AIM-120C-5/D is 14.3 minimum. The PoBIT while it does have better CAS options, it’s also limited in A2A in a multirole scenario while the reverse is true for the MiG-29K.
2. Su-30SM has 12 R-77-1s, “better” radar is pushing it, since AESAs are modelled to see more of what’s ahead vertically which is a well-known limit of the Bars/Irbis radars. Flight performance is definitely different. Can’t compare a heavy fighter to a light fighter in that way.

Again, like I’ve said earlier it doesn’t need to be equal to something to have a place at a BR, it just needs to have certain capabilities and it will be fine. There are multiple vehicles given this treatment throughout every tree in the game

Zhuk-AE was never planned for MiG-29K. For MiG-35 sure, MiG-29K had Zhuk-M from the start.

It would most certainly not be good. We have J-15T at 14.3 with AESA and 48 countermeasures and it is very mid at best. And no, giving J-15T R-77-1s will not magically turn it into a good aircraft.

It is exactly the best example to use, because it features a mechanical radar and 8 advanced Fox-3 missiles, same as MiG-29K if it had R-77-1s. MiG-29K however does not feature broken flight model, top notch defence suite and countermeasures count.

It will most certainly not be fine. You want to turn okayish 13.7 aircraft into useless 14.3 aircraft and mask it with flawed reasoning of “certain capabilities”. Said capabilities aren’t even equal in the game, there is a massive difference between AN/APG-63 V3 and CAPTOR ECRS Mk2 despite both of them being technically AESA, saying that aircrafts are equal just by having radars of similar technology is, again, laughable.
