has anyone used the mig19pt’s radar in air rb for actual use?
im gonna get it soon and i feel like it could be somewhat useful at times right?
but there aren’t really any records i can find of people using it
like i feel like itd be useful at the end of the match for finding the last player since it seems to pick up targets at 8km and closer, which would be useful for bypassing the goofy spotting mechanics
or when you stall someone out but then they’re below you and become unspotted somehow (even with expert and max crew at 2km)
Pretty sure it’s just a radar rangefinder for the gunsight?
Practically does nothing for ARB, I guess you can use it if your enemy runs on somewhere cloudy I guess.

19PT has a real search radar but its very short range and not powerful

RU radars are worse than western radars and very basic until MiG-23
The pressence of markers renders radars on most lower BR aircraft entirely redundant in most cases. Can sometimes be handy for locating someone flying high, or hiding in a cloud, but beyond that, you’ll usually keep it off.
I dont have the Mig-19, but in aircraft like the Javelin, Lightning, Sea-Vixen, etc, the radar usually remains off for me. There are some minor exceptions to the Lightning and Sea Vixen because the missile will slave to the lock, but that is about it. Though hunting B-52s / Tu-95s is easier initially by using the radar to find them at distance, and then plan an intercept.
Its in part, why I think markers need removing or reworking. Make aircraft actually having a radar meaningful. Like it is in ASB
yeah same i usually keep the radar in my f84 or my sabre off, but it is useful in clouds and it actually helps a lot with not slamming into the ground on maps with low cloud cover ((c)rocky pillars)
f84 doesnt have a search radar, neither does f86
not sure how you’re managing to use a gun radar for this
