Before you come at me with pitchforks, I stand on business when I say current top tier Air RB is dominated by Rafales, Eurofighters and F-15Es. China is potent with the J-10 however other nations like Russia are suffering to an extent because they do not have the aircraft that can properly compete against said aircraft. The R-77 missiles are 50/50 at times and with the Su-27’s radar being somewhat worse compared to other comparable top tier jets like the Gripen and F-16s it is no surprise it doesn’t perform as well as it should be.
My solution would be to add the MiG-31 simply because it has a phased array radar, it can carry R-37 missiles which have a maximum launch range of about 400km that can fly at Mach 6. Again before you come at me for saying it sounds too overpowered, Gaijin can always tweak it in a way so that it can be in line with the other top tier aircraft. The Mig-31 is essentially Russia’s F-15E (sort of), it is an interceptor with extremely powerful engines and can essentially fly to the edge of space and the aircraft was specifically designed as a response to not only the F-15 but also to the severe flaws of the MiG-25. I doubt the Su-30SM would make any difference against Eurofighters or Rafales unless its radar isn’t dodgy like the Su-27 and it has the upgraded R-77 (probs wouldn’t matter that much unless I’m wrong)
But yeah that’s my theoretical proposal since other nations need powerful aircraft to compete with the Eurofighter, Rafale and F-15E/I
There may be 200 reasons why the MiG-31 should not be added but the power creep has to be stabilised across all axis and 100% increase the BR limit since 14.0 is an utter joke
No issue with soviets getting a better top tier jet. They do need a 14.0 alongside Sweden and China.
But…
No. R-37 for the Mig-31 would mean METEOR for the Typhoon and Rafale. Gaijin usually wont add fake weapons but you never know when it comes to the soviets. R-77-1 would be more likely.
Su-30 though, with R-77-1 is most likely for the next major update
You realize the F-15 was made in response to the MiG-25 foxbat.
I don’t see the MiG-31 being competitive against such jets as EFT and rafale. Its just simply not.
However I absolutely love the MiG-25/MiG-31 and feel they should have been in the game ages ago.
As for the magic Mach 6 missile. We know how Russia is about puffing their chest that’s how we got the the whole MiG-25/F-15 situation in the first place.
I’m all for the R-77-1 as long as the radar on the MiG-31 isn’t tinkered with incorrectly and the missile itself can be almost/on par with the current best fox 3 missiles
Radar performance is totally relative. Su-27 and Typhoon have almost equal radar performance at the moment. But assuming the SU-30 got something akin to the radar in the Su-34, it would be very potent
Missile performance is also relative. R-77 and MICA slap the hell out of AMRAAM at close range, but cant compete in terms of pure range at long range.
Much in the same way that R-73 is vastly superior to Aim-9Ms in a close range dogfight but Aim-9M is better in an ambush or attacking someone distracted.
R-77-1 would likely be more than enough, depending on the performance of the SU-30 or Mig-31, maybe even require AAM buffs for other nations, like Aim-120C5s.
I can agree to an extent the Mig-31 won’t be that competitive against EFT and Rafale, at least it has the opportunity to unlike the Su-27, Mig-31’s role is a high altitude interceptor and it can also compete with the F-15E at high altitude with its powerful engines.
Mig-25 can be added as an event vehicle for the Syrian Airforce in the Soviet tree (just like the F-14IRIAF for US)
I think the R-77-1 would be the perfect bridge between MICA and Aim-120B/C, giving Russia top tier a chance to actually play in top tier without getting abused all the time, as for Sweden and China they 100% need Aim-120B/C and R-77-1s respectively
If it has a reported operational range of 200+ km then it must have a very high speed limit since it is a sustained rocket boost, but why don’t you test out the speed of the R-37 yourself and then come back to me xddd
Also I tried watching Chernobyl but got bored 15 mins through, apparently the show itself ain’t even accurate, even a Nuclear Engineer cringed whilst watching it
“Can’t enjoy a show” My personal preference and this is coming from someone who has been big into nuclear stuff, I’ve played STALKER, Metro and have always been enthusiastic about the post-apocalypse genre plus I’ve already watched a real life chernobyl documentary, it’s called Chernobyl 3828 on youtube and it is literally live footage of workers at the rooftop cleaning the debris during the disaster, it’s a 30 min mini documentary (if you can even call it that) and I highly recommend
