MiG-27s labeled as fighters?

it is just a quick question to know if it was mislabeled.

According to my understanding MiG-27 is the striker version of MiG-23, but why in-game is labeled as a Fighter?

Can it be changed to the green icon?

Probably? But historical accuracy aside, it benefits from the fighter label in GRB since you can use it and another strike aircraft (Su-25T, Su-24M, Su-39, etc.) without raising the SP cost.

Gaijin changed the Mig-27’s classification from strike aircraft to fighter because back in 2021/22 because rank VI+ strikers had airspawn back then, so people abused it to R-60M rush the enemy team who barely managed to take off.

Since the top rank airspawn no longer exist and can’t be abused, it might be a good idea to ask them to change it back in the ongoing BR changes thread:

Players might benefit from the change for the BP tasks and it would get striker reload in arcade modes.

I’ve always found it puzzling that the MiG-27 is classified as a fighter in War Thunder, even though in reality, it’s not. Historically, the MiG-27 was designed as a ground-attack aircraft, a direct evolution of the MiG-23, but optimized for close air support and strike missions rather than air-to-air combat.

*MiG-23BN, which is itself is a strike (bomber) variant of MiG-23 and can be found in German tree (weird why Soviets dont get it, just as a filler tho…)
