Came back to this game after a while, i was shocked how useless the MG 151 are now compared to how they were back then, they are easily the worst 20 mm in the game now, it feels like you are shooting a machine gun at times, actually some might be better than the MG 151 now.
What can be done about it, should i use the APHE rounds instead since they atleast have penetration?
Nope Mineshells are still the best rounds it has sadly. Stealth or Air Targets is the way to go still.
The 13mms IAI are literally better than the 20mms as of now.
We can only wait and hope, the report on it is already roughly 2 years old. ‘‘Accepted’’ yet still ignored.
Only stealth, unless someone enjoys 10% lower muzzle velocity.
It’s now 100% confirmed that the MG FF actually only used three shell types and just two for combat.
Historically firing a 4:1 mix of HEF-T and PT.
Those being 134g shells with 3.7g PETN (+0.6g booster) with a velocity of 615m/s.
I’ve closed my 3 year old report and made a new one but despite another guy making several reports as well, so far no report about this was even looked at.
But if implemented, a historical belt is firing 80% explosive traced rounds, with each having similar hitting power as a 20mm Mineshell, due to realShatter.
Which would really show how little the current implementation, of realShatter HE vs. (realShatter) Mineshells, makes sense.
Like, Germany specifically modified the MG FFs to the MG FF/M, reducing the weight of shells to a maximum of 115g (at just 585m/s), in order to be able to fire the more destructive Mineshells.
Only for the MG FF/M to turn out worse than the MG FF.
And it’s the same story with the Japanese Army’s development of the 12.7mm Ho-103 to the 20mm Ho-5 and finally the 30mm Ho-155 and even 37mm Ho-204.
In WT the small caliber guns scale so much better in damage compare to the larger guns that it doesn’t make any sense to have them over the smaller guns.
Even as it seems useless - i added a suggestion for a BR decrease:
And (ofc) a suggestion for a BR increase of ShVak armed aircraft:
Feel free to support those posts if you have a similar view on these things.
All BR change suggestions have to be done on a per-plane basis unfortunately
We can discuss them for now as a whole. If Gaijin says they are willing to do sth about it then we can spend the extra effort of making individual suggestions.
How are the russian 20mm mineshells on that captured SPAA in comparision to German 20mm minshells?
Better, they use realshatter, less spread of fragments but better damage to the surface it hits - usually blacks the component immediately.
Plus it has a lower fuze delay.
All cannons that use realshatter atm are a bit inconsistent right now, you get a few useless hits and then a very strong one, completely rng. That said it’s still better than the current Mg151/20 equipped on German aircraft.
Do the ru mineshells autodestruct ?
worst guns & worst flight performance
doesn’t look like it
Thats mean, how can they be that biased. Would be also interesting to know where these captured mineshells have the same absurd trajectory/drag modifiers. German mineshells literally fall out of the sky like a stone.
Screw it, just add the experimental MG 213 20mm cannon for all late-war German aircraft.

Can’t ‘realshatter’ if the gun is spitting new bullet types at 1200 rounds per minute…
Video is from 2 years ago. After constant backlash and complain from the community, gaijin mostly fixed realshatter. It still spark once in a while but on average it’s does more damage than the old formula.
Just try it in the hangar most 20mm will instantly turn the part they hit black.
no not really
The issue is a little different now but the result is pretty much the same - inconsistencies all over the place. This time it cannot be seen in protection analysis.
Must be some kind of server side problem or whatever that is not registering/syncing hits properly.
Cuz even guns that were not using realshatter became insanely bad after Leviathans.
the father of american and french revolver guns <3
