Meteor Missile System

@Macron-Spokesman might have something which explicitly states MICA & Meteor use related seekers. I’ve seen some circumstantial evidence (stuff like the old MBDA website using exactly the same seeker image on the MICA and Meteor pages).

Cant wait for the meteor to be added with lots of hype “Surely this will help counter the SM2 and rafale” only to realize its a worse C-5 because it is worse at ranges where things actually die.

for 100 km, huh? Gaijin could just hit the “We believe that it’s a marketing lie”

…but rafale will also have meteors

all the info usually talks about how much further it can travel compared with an amraam because of the throttleable motor, they never talk about how it would compare if it was stuck at full throttle for the entire flight, there’s nothing indicating it would be worse than a C-5 between 10-20km of travel distance for example

can’t wait to play with the Meteor

Only thing I’m afraid for the Meteor is the “low” count, with how missile interception currently works it would be annoying to have them shot out of the sky.

The Rafale iirc carries 4 (correct me if I’m wrong), so I hope that iron doming changes before these missiles drop.

I think more than that from what i’ve seen (which admittedly isn’t much at all).

( The difference between the Eurofighter and the Rafale is simply abysmal - #31 by Von_Valinor )

I think it’s 6 for Rafael correct me if I’m wrong tho. Honestly I would prefer the mix of Micas and meteor a good balance of long range and short range (dog fighting TVC go broom) ARH missiles

I’m personally skeptical of performance of meteor in war thunder really depends how gaijin models it but I’ll hold my breath till we actually see it before calling it a god missile.

Note that there is a bit of solid propellant in the engine, so potentially the ramjet can still after the boost phase, even if the aircraft is very slow (probably means you will lose a lot more energy than on a conventional missile though, since the ramjet will have to accelerate through lower speed where it’s not the most efficient)

Wouldn’t that be R-77M and PL21 ?

The glorious air to air mine

No that’s a dual pulse one iirc.

Ha nvm, it was the PD that got abandonned

I guess russia did not see the need for it considering they already had R-37M maybe

Yep, @kizvy recently made a suggestion for it, but like you said, never saw the light.

Heaviest AAM configuration that was taken as photography so far is this one :

so 2 meteor + 6 Micas (and soon MICA NG)

It remains unclear if 2 additional hardpoints have been added to take meteor for now

Its four Meteor for Rafale F.3R+, if anyone would actually read any related thread :)

still the gripen E will be able to carry the most, unless the EF gets Meteor double pylons

If they add prototype test beds we could have the Gripen A* IR-OTIS with RB-73/S225XR.

It would be only 4 likely, but…

I should make a suggestion post for it…

IR Otis you say?

Why wouldn’t the Typhoon get double pylon Meteors? It’s not like the Gripen will get to have the advantage of the Meteors in terms of count. Gaijin definitely isn’t going to limit the Typhoon.
