Me 163 needs ATLEAST it's Airspawn back

The maps are gigantic, the cold-war jets just rush to the middle while I have to crawl 25km with low throttle to remain somewhat useful when I get there… and when I get there, half the team is dead, I fight what’s left, or I get picked on by overwhelming numbers. And for what ? The jets it meets have higher max speed, can sustain it MUCH LONGER, and if they are not stupid and won’t turn fight you, you won’t have a chance to kill them.

It’s still 8.0, which it was 10years ago, but lost half it’s fuel, climb rate, airspawn and thrust, and gained more advanced enemies at it’s BR, not to mention the 30mm which evaporated enemies you hit (when you hit) is not so reliable anymore, as ‘hit’ happens and sometimes it just does nothing.
And before you correct me, I know that in situations when enemy is overconfident (which happens a lot when their planes are so much better) and they commit to turn-fighting you, YOU HAVE ADVANTAGE, WOW ! I can for minute or two compete with my enemies! …and god forbid the dog-fight lasts more than a minute because one fight and you’re done, and back to base is a long way which you’re gonna be cruising on low speed, without much ability to fight back.

Yes, I micro-manage my fuel like a madman, and there are times I make it work, but I just feel like playing a total different game than people in my match, on these gigantic maps where everyone goes 1000km/h most of the time, I just cruise there in a distance… slowly… hoping that SOMEBODY WILL COME TO ME, and intelligent players just B&Z while I just waste my precious fuel to manuever… (Don’t even mention head-ons against cold war jets, these are MK108, intelligent enemies easily dodge them)

If F-84 get’s an airspawn because it can’t take-off War Thunder’s airfields, then Me 163 deserves an airspawn because it’s characteristics with the map design doesn’t allow the plane to perform on fun and same competetive level as it’s opponents.

You can argue that the player statistics with the plane aren’t so bad, but if we’re balancing a plane only on the basis of few extraordinarily mad players who are trying to make it work just for the fact that they enjoy making something like this work, then we’re forgetting all those other players you meet in those planes who only get dunked on and are basically free kill, until they entirelly abandon the plane…

As someone who enjoyed much of these now abandoned jets in 2015 (Me 262 a1, Ho229, Komet) I still sometimes out of nostalgia get these urges to play them, but they’re in such a rought spot… I don’t ask for much, I’ll endure the plane being half good of what it was, facing double the threat in had faced, but the airspawn would provide relief from the issue none of it’s competitors face…

PLEASE, LET ROCKET INTERCEPTORS AGAIN FULFIL THEIR ROLE. (ki-200 also)

I agree with you, but 90% of the playerbase is unintelligent. You can do it, I believe in you.

I think they should just lower its rating. Airspawns are a potent advantage but are a gimmick in that they generally only help at the start
If we really want one of them to be super good at killing bombers, make the me163 with its worse(?) cannon velocity get airspawn, but leave the ki200 without one so it can be a true fighter

Just copy the same type of airspawn floatplanes like Floatfire recieves, I believe it’s 100m of altitude above the runway start
Since rocket planes consume a lot of fuel on take off it would make them able to find more opportunities and allow extra seconds of combat time.

Spoiler

Rocket planes are just incredibly mismodeled in reality.
Limited throttle options would hard cap fuel burn rate at fixed rates.
Plumes of smoke of the rockets would make them easy to spot.
I think all of these need to be added + fix fuel times on 163s (from 6 to 4 minutes is insane)

then you can even drop vs WW2 props / jets, since they would become these "survive 30-60 seconds vs a plane that has bad ballistics (Me 163 B), bad firerate ( Ki-200), compression issues ( BI, BI is biggest offender since it is so efficient at burning fuel that it can fly +100km distance at +500km/h, at sea level and at 10% throttle.)

Only exception would be Me 163 B-0, but that’s more of a 20mm hits like a 30mm should type of issue.

“Airspawn back
I can’t remember this plane had an airspawn, so it’s about 8 years ago.

It was designed as an one-trick-pony: Use it’s whole fuel to climb (10-12km alt), drop on bombers, glide back to airfield.
And here is the problem: The change of fuel consumption could be correct, but the climbrate isn’t. Nobody can find any evidence GJN would accept. But all the stories about this plane telling the same: Climbrate should be about 70-200m/s depending on fuel mass and alt.

I watched some replays:

  • I don’t know why your spawning late. You activated “join already active battles”?
  • You don’t climb at all. This plane loves altitude. The higher you fly the less fuel you have to burn. At alt you can energy trap enemies or you can drop on enemies.

only top tier matters now and it isnt a premium

It had airspawn, I was there… 3000 years ago…

Using whole fuel to climb to 10-12km alt ? to drop on bombers ? There are no enemies at that alt, players just rush to the middle and fight there at ground level or max 5k Alt. And nobody plays those bombers you’re probably speaking about, only the fastest one’s that they rush into bases and then crash into a ground, and they are not flying at high alt…

And what you’re speaking of is actually how this plane been played 10 years ago, you airspawn, use your fuel and speed to gain alt, and then do some gliding surprise attacks, but you still had some fuel when you entered the battlefield in that altitude. I see some players use this tactic of yours but they’re the one’s I always see with 0 score, and when I click their profile it says only a few battles, and very low or 0 kills. Yes at higher alt this plane is much better against it’s opponents, too bad it doesn’t have means to use that advantage much often in current War Thunder battles. Although you’ll miss most of these problems if you just play it in ground battles nowadays…

-Yea I have the option to join active battles on because it doesn’t limit me on other planes/tanks, and it does make the problem a lot bigger here, but I don’t take those battles into an equation in the post here, you’ll face the same problems I speak in the post even if you don’t start late.
-I climb with the low throttle which keeps my fuel to be used in engagements and I join the fight between 1500-3000 alt where the most enemies are anyways so I can hopefuly trap them into a dogfight and use my fuel to actually fight them.

“It was designed as” doesn’t mean you have to play it this way. It only should show the difference between RL and game and the problems it have.

If you check my stats you can judge by your own wether I know what I’m talking about or not.

I always played all 3 variants in the same way, with 6min or now with 4min fuel: Climb to 4-6km (depends on enemy), play energy or drop on enemy.

Only my opinion and my playstyle:
Saving fuel to begin with is counterproductive, because it become better the lower your fuel is. More than 3min fuel at low alt rips your wings in full turn at higher speeds. RTB from middle of the map, you need less than 1min fuel. I fought many dogfights with 0% throttle, only up to 30% while going up. More throttle only with flaps to hold speed.

I’m gonna try your tactic as I really want to make this plane work again. Yes, I saw your account but I think you’re the top 1% I was speaking of in the main post.

You have thousands of battles with so many vehicles, of course you’re gonna do good, but you cannot denny that the problems of the planes are valid in the current state of a war thunder and would it hurt for a plane to not be only for the ‘God of War’ players ? Yes, you personally would be over-powered killing machine in it, but as I was speaking, what about the remaining people not being Warmaster reincarnated ?

A lot of rocket planes need their Air spawn back; however, unless Gaijin gives all of them the proper fuel capacity that isn’t in-game and lowers them very unlikely.

Top 1%? Never! Not even top 10%. There is a phrase, which fits better: Among the blind the one-eyed is king.

For sure, my experience over the years, and the fact I play almost every day, is a huge factor. But it’s even more the fact, that I try to understand the game at it’s core. To win, staying alive, try to have an overview at every moment and so on. For me it’s more like chess in the sky. All that has nothing to do with any plane in particular.

Imo there is no chance to make these planes more than fun planes. The moment more players flying these planes with more success, GJN will move them up in BR.

just give it interceptor spawn because its an interceptor

Have you played this recently man? I’d love to check out a server replay or two. Always something to learn from good players.

True but also “the tendency of high performers to underestimate their skills” can be in effect here (Dunning–Kruger effect, that passage I stole from wiki) Because my man, I too try play “To win, staying alive, try to have an overview at every moment and so on” but the limit of my skills brings me into this place where I feel like meth-fueled wehrmacht soldier flying this plane to get some results with it. I think I still have like 1.4 kd with it (0.9 kill/battle), so we have you, the humble ‘God of War’ who is chill about it, me, the meth-fueled wehrmacht crazy getting mixed results, but what about the average Joe tho…

Airspawn… I beg of you…

thats just the larping kicking in, you need that to have fun

Not sure why it would need air spawn for 8.0.
Its climb rate on 13 minutes of fuel is ~18 meters per second at sea level.
And 27 meters per second with over 7 minutes of fuel.

This is after using 60% throttle for takeoff.

Tough, but not impossible.
