Making tanks use there actual gunners sight in ground rb to balance aiming for weakspots

In Red Orchestra 2 if you single-crewed a tank and you were not actively playing the role of the driver any movement of the tank was delayed, because when you as the gunner or commander pushed any of the movement keys, the corresponding command was shouted to the driver like “forward”, “faster”, “turn right/left”, “stop” and the driver followed these commands with a 1-2 second delay.

In War Thunder, even in “Simulator” battles, tanks are controlled by one hive mind.

What’s funny is that Gaijin did test the idea of a single crew member being alive, apparently due to how WT was back then, it was very broken due to how it was coded. Vehicles could still operate even with 1 crew member but required a couple of seconds between the crew member going from the turret to the driver’s seat.

I agreed with this but it had to some with bigger map size too otherwise it will be nothing but annoying

I’ll preface this by saying that I’m generally against ‘solutions’ that propose to fix the game by limiting the way people play the game. (Exploiting out of bounds, bugs etc excepted)

This seems like a solution looking for a problem.

I think the gun sight suggestion fits the simm environment better than Realistic battles. When you consider it holistically a major distinction between each game mode is a removal of situational awareness handicaps in the heads up display.

Arcade highlights enemy vehicles within a detection radius and provides a lot of feedback on range, point of aim and likelihood of penetration

Realistic removes the highlighted enemies, point of aim etc. Instead you musy locate or highlight specific enemies using the scouting function. Range is estimated by the gunner or accurately assessed using equipment.

Sim removes all hud information for identification, all targets must be visually acquired and identified (no friendly highlighted). 3rd person is limited to commander’s perspective and gun sight is from the optic not the bore.

I think the established ground rules for each game mode are well founded, make reasonable sense and follow a reasonable theme. I would need a very convincing reason to want to introduce sim elements into RB when SIM is working just fine as a game mode (low population may be evidence that its not working that well, but it would also stand to reason that introducing SIM elememts into RB ,would by extension harm RB)
