Ok, I am quite uneducated on Fox-3s, so I will ask for enlightement from someone more knowledgeable:
In War Thunder, how will AIM-120A be comparable to R-77 or MICA when it’s 35G vs 50G? Is it better in any other way? Is it faster or more reliable, does it have anything going for it? Or is it just worse?
Pretty sad but alot of Aircraft are getting drop tanks which is something I wanted really badly and maybe the Soviet boats can finally use the strelas.
Yep. There might be more on the dev server or when the patch drops, but considering Gaijin is feeding the negative feedback loop super hard I’d say don’t hold your breath.
Probably better energy retention, so more range, + fast platforms like the f-15 and f-16 means they have more range by climbing and accelerating faster before launching
i am gassed for that, will make it so shooting the centre mass will be a good idea for them finally as it would make them unable to reload or maybe even turn their turret depending on how gaijin implement it.
They can still be guided well with a hard lock, so they’ll perform at least as well a SARH at long range (AMRAAM in particular has dramatically improved flight performance over Sparrows). Where they’ll excel is in the mid-short range where you can dump several within their seeker range or closer, essentially the same conditions that SARH should be used in, but now you can fire multiple instead of being restricted to one at a time.
In War Thunder’s maps and game mode, range is meaningless compared to the close combat aspects, so… yep! MICA will definitely be the best in that case, while AIM-120A won’t be having anything going for it if its only advantage is “more range”.
Last I checked the missile sheet wasn’t updated and I don’t think dev is open yet so we don’t really have an up to date comparison on them, plus it’s known that statcard values are generally not too helpful when it comes to actual performance
