Major Update "Seek & Destroy" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 4)

MICA is, well, shorter ranged by comparison to all the other ARHs, but it makes up for it by being much better as a dogfight missile (TVC my beloved)

AIM-120A and R-77, I’m less clear on, but by the sounds of it they’ll treat the 120A similar to the B.

Besides, G overloads like that stop mattering at the ranges you’re going to be firing these missiles at before a dogfight.

Probably better energy retention, so more range, + fast platforms like the f-15 and f-16 means they have more range by climbing and accelerating faster before launching

That’s disappointing…

AIM-7M is worse than R-27ER
AIM-9M is worse than R-73
AIM-120A is worse than R-77

I am starting to wish I had grinded Russia instead of America, hahahah.

Gaijin is adding like 4-6 different FOX-3’s all of which IRL are vastly different in capabilities and performance.

MICA’s should be like the best performing out of these, while I wouldn’t expect much from the R-77’s

Aim-120’s ideally should be mid-pack considering it will be the most used FOX-3

DERBY I have no idea

i am gassed for that, will make it so shooting the centre mass will be a good idea for them finally as it would make them unable to reload or maybe even turn their turret depending on how gaijin implement it.

we will see on dev server, on stream ships are usually neglected

They can still be guided well with a hard lock, so they’ll perform at least as well a SARH at long range (AMRAAM in particular has dramatically improved flight performance over Sparrows). Where they’ll excel is in the mid-short range where you can dump several within their seeker range or closer, essentially the same conditions that SARH should be used in, but now you can fire multiple instead of being restricted to one at a time.

In War Thunder’s maps and game mode, range is meaningless compared to the close combat aspects, so… yep! MICA will definitely be the best in that case, while AIM-120A won’t be having anything going for it if its only advantage is “more range”.

The MICA will probably be used at short enough range in head on that the thrust vector will be an advantage, like a headon R-73 vs AIM-9M

In fact, Japan’s Ministry of Defense has announced that it has capabilities comparable to the AIM-120C-7

Last I checked the missile sheet wasn’t updated and I don’t think dev is open yet so we don’t really have an up to date comparison on them, plus it’s known that statcard values are generally not too helpful when it comes to actual performance

There’s a reason the Soviets were my second air tree I completed lol

Now I called it again and i’m nearly at France end of line

Yeah the whole only 5 naval players meme is taking effect. If some more effort would go into naval then it would be a fun mode. I still like it alot but I get why people won’t play it. Atleast no submarines so you are happy about that aren’t you? And I saw a japanese cruiser is it cool?

@Smin1080p

Why does the US still not get the AV-8B+?

Its been in the game quite awhile now, yet its not been added. Thank you

This is the strangest english i have ever read

No, AIM-120A should be relatively good against the other missiles.
R-77 in comparison to 120A will be more agile at shorter ranges but quite substantially worse at longer distances in terms of range and available energy, of which the 120A has more.

Thats for AAM-4B.

so…why ROCAF F16A MLU didnt get AIM120 and AIM9M,Taiwan has not even purchased AIM-9L and AIM-7F.

I mean they all have an advantage in that you can leave them do their own thing and they can’t be flared, and probably are gonna be very hard to chaff even in the notch.

yup the cruiser is really nice with 10x203mm and decent AA

will be good part of already strong 5.7
